Latest Mod.

Peggy wanted a place to put her glasses, tablet, etc.and has no night stand on her side of the bed. I came up with this idea. Piece of oak with a piece of galley rail. I was thinking about what color to paint it. When Peggy suggested staining, I was not sure how cherry stain would work on the oak. So, Peggy suggested staining it to match the bedding, green tea. Only took a few hours to make, stain, and install. I had my doubts about the stain color but it looks pretty good. Below are a couple of pictures. Click image for larger version

Look's good, I used that same pce of trim (without the bottom) on the valance above the window in the kitchen area. Just stained it to match the cabinets and screwed it to the front with small brass screws. Great for salt, pepper,& seasonings. Larry

I'll probably copy this. How (and where) did you attach it?

It sounds more complicated then it really is.. So after figuring out where (height wise) I wanted it. I applied tape on the wall and drew a line in the center of the tape, drilled 3 equally spaced holes through the wall into the closets on both sides of the bed. Because the walls aren't the strongest I put a doubler in each closet. Lined up the shelf and put in 3, 3in. screws each side. I'll hide the doubler soon when I make a small set of shelves in the closet. BTW we just returned from a 4 day camping trip. The shelf worked just fine.
