You got me thinking about this too now!

Search for "tailgate light bar" in your favorite online retailer and you will get lots of options too.

Already wired for a 4 pin trailer plug. You would need a long extension though! Also make sure it has a backup light feature. Lots of them don't.

Not to be too hillbilly engineer but, I realized I have some magnetic led battery powered puck lights.

While checking the site before engaging reverse gear I will pull them out of the pickup and stick them on the TT.

Cost about a buck fiddy at Canadian Tire.

Aren't most trailers aluminum? I guess you could stick them on the bumpers and frame.

But then that really takes away the "Cool" factor of turning them on when you backup..

I want to install a "RAM" on mine to push the other people's extra car that they try to park in my site. I have had to go knock on a door before to the people next to me to ask them to please move their car out of my campsite so that I could back in...

I picked up 2 of these (27w 60 Degree Flood Light) and mounted one on the top arm of each front stabilizer jack. Wired to the existing electrical box on the tongue, and added an extension box to mount a simple on-off switch. Initially I was thinking to wire into the reverse lights, but figured I'd need to get out anyway. This also allows the lights to stay on when pulling forward, in park, or unhitched.

After reading back through my explanation, I should take a picture. I'll try to get one in the next few days.

These lights are more in line with my budget.

ADK: A couple of questions (until the photos are posted): You describe your lights as being mounted near the top of each front stabilizer, but are they pointed to shine toward the rear of the trailer? I assume that they are. Have you tried using them to backup in the dark and how is your installation working out for you?

Like you said, having a switch and wired to the TT battery allows flexibility to use the lights at times other than being hitched and having the TV in reverse.

I have them pointed out to the sides. So far I've only used them to back into our driveway. Much easier to see. I picked the flood lights instead of spot to give a broader exposure. Though I still have to get out to see what is behind me

Here are a few pictures http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/album.php?albumid=651

I figure having them on top should protect from road debris and when the stabilizers are down I can still use to light up around the trailer.

I like your mount location. Now only if I did not have a dog on a tie out, who I could see tear them off while roaming the site.
