Wow Don! You actually want a picture. Will have to wait until I go out again. But basically I have a regulator at city water supply, use only white hose for water, have the blue filter right before the TT. I change filters every year so next year I will have the current filter placed right after the regulator in any of the "older" parks that we might visit.

I hate drilling holes in anything, so I just route my hoses between the door and the inside wall. Works fine for me. This is a 2 stage filter.

There was a filter in mine when I bought it but I don't know if it's OE or added. No filter in it and no intention of putting one in it. We use the onboard water for non-drinking purposes but do cook with it.

So far we're both alive

I set my whole-house filter within a cheap plastic container placed under the slide. While wintering in the Texas Hill Country I slip the filter into a insulator sock (shown) and utilize a heated hose.

You should have a filter for no other reason than to filter out sand particles. The "O" rings / washers on your faucets and toilet will thank you for it.

Why would I have sand particles in my water tank? I fill at RV parks and have never seen any issue with the water, other than hardness. The filter canister is still inline so any heavy particles would settle in there as the water flows through and it's always clean when I remove to winterize.

One of the most unique arrangements I have seen was an old Christmas tree stand with the filter secured where the tree trunk would be.
Around here you find them on the side of road attached to the old tree right after Christmas.

IMO, either you are very lucky or we often stay in worse campgrounds than you do.

We have found significant differences in sediment, odors, and taste in various campgrounds. We use our fresh water tank for everything, from drinking on down, so we are cautious about the water that goes into it. We've found, too, that even where campground water is a little 'off', it makes terrible coffee.

'See' our filter setup:

CG spigot--Camco 'blue' filter*--adjustable regulator--sediment filter**--carbon filter***--trailer

* disposable keeps grit out of an expensive regulator
** 10" replaceable cartridge ~5 micron keeps sediment out of carbon filter
*** 10" replaceable cartridge carbon block 1 or 0.5 micron (chlorine, odor, sulfur etc. tastes, and protozoan cysts)

We prefer soft water, like at home, but haven't decided yet to add a softener. So, like mentioned, hardness varies from place to place.

Maybe that's it

We've stayed in campgrounds in LA, TX, NM, AZ & CA. No issues so far. We fill the tank when leaving for a boondocking location. Maybe this winter I'll put the filter in and see if it has anything in it in the spring.

Just for kicks, I always cut the BLUE filter in half at the end of its life, usually about 3 months (pressure drops) and you would wonder how some of the particles got through the water pumps.

Dave,

Once at my Texas winter site I use a 25ft Camco Tastepure heated drinking hose between my filter and TT (longest hose run). The 4ft short hose run between filter and water valve I use a insulation wrap.

Plus if you have a fire, no need to call the fire dept.
