Levelling and chocking

How can you chock tires on the side you had to raise with the "legos" ? We could only chock the other side and the trailer twisted and rolled forward off block under the jack.

You could use X Chocks between the tires on the raised side assuming you have a dual axle trailer.

Belt and suspenders: We use both x-chocks (Camco brand) and heavy rubber chocks. There's been a couple of times things got MUCH too exciting and we don't want those to happen again.

I have extra chocks so I use two on the side that's raised and sort of wedge them in.

I purchased and installed a set of Hopkins Graduated trailer levels and installed them after leveling the trailer in my driveway. They are graduated in 1" increments.

Once I get to a campsite, I park the trailer approximately where we want it and check the level side to side. I then select and place the correct number of 1" blocks just in front or just behind the wheel and pull or push the trailer onto the blocks while still attached to my tow vehicle. Then I chock the wheels so the trailer cannot roll before disconnecting and leveling front to rear. I place the trailer jack on a block of wood instead of using the pivot wheel so the front of the trailer cannot move.

Suzie,

If you're using the lego blocks about the only thing you can do is have enough of them to have room for the wheel chocks.

That is part of the reason I still use 2x10's to level the tt. I cut them long enough to place a wheel chock in front of the front tire, and behind the rear tire. While the boards aren't as easy to haul and store, the number of lego blocks that could be required to level can be a fair amount.

X-chocks are not suppose to be used to prevent the tt from rolling away, only actual wheel chocks are. The x-chocks are to help stop the wiggle while set up.

We used have same issue before we got X-chocks.
Wheels don't move when X chocks are snugged up.

Self leveling is so nice just push a button and raises the trailer off the ground so no blocking of wheels is needed. I still check for level but have yet to find it not perfectly level. The complete process from the time you push the button until you hear the beep that its done is under 1- 1/2 mins. So worth the money.

The Andersen levelers also serve as their own chocks.

For a dual axle trailer I would think that a set of Andersen levelers would take up less space than lego blocks and be easier to use.

But how does it fit between the tires?

Our set-up. On the other side we use the X-chock and plastic wedge-shaped chocks. Works pretty well.

I have a single axel and use the Andersen leveler. I have learned to allow a tiny bit of motion to set the chock on that side so I over level about an inch of travel past level. That sets the chock firmly and I have had no problems.

Quick and painless to me.

Quick tips to newbies.

Always chock both sides.
Leave chains attached while taking it off the ball, Chocks can slip and trailers can roll.

Which Jayco trailer do you own. Before I buy 2 of the Anderson levelers, I want to make sure I can put one between my tires. I have the 23RB.

We had the Anderson levelers for our SOB 5th wheel. Per the instructions, we had to cut the tip off a little (easy to do with a recip saw), then they fit great. Our axles were pretty tight together.

I use Andersen levelers on the low side of the trailer and I also chock the high side of the trailer.

As someone else said, sort of belt-and-suspenders for us as well.
