Made a new gas pedal...

I love my GreyHawk but it can be a bit uncomfortable to drive with the current gas pedal size and position - its a bit far away and high off the floor for me. When I looked to see what could be done about this I was surprised to see that the OEM pedal is just a small piece of plastic held in place by a hardened pin that has been pressed in.

I was easily able to press the pin out and remove the OEM pedal and return spring.
I then made a new pedal assembly by welding a couple of 1/8" steel tabs to a piece of left over 1"x1" square tubing, and screwed a 2" piece of aluminum to the assembly for the new pedal surface. I made the pedal surface removable in case I needed to make any adjustments. I put some self adhering non-skid tape to the pedal to ensure good traction when I have to mash it to the floor

I reassembled using a bolt with a couple of lock nuts and the unit is light enough to use the OEM return spring so that made things easy. All in all, the new pedal is about 3" longer, 1" wider and 1.5" higher than the original, allowing me to move my seat back to a more comfortable position, and I can also rest my heel on the floor and still operate the pedal throughout its range which I like.
