Maxxair or Maxxair II Vent Cover for Stock Fan

What would you get?

Getting ready to buy a vent cover for the stock bathroom fan in my new 26BH and wasn't sure if there is any big advantages of the Maxxair II over the Maxxair if being used with a stock fan?

Which one is easier to install?

I think I saw somewhere that the Maxxair II is hinged on one side for easy cleaning?

Thank you in advance for your replies!!

Duke

It is hinged.

Installed mine 2 years ago.... Never opened it since

But Colorado does not have a lot of trees and leaves

Check how much room you have between the fan vent and your black tank vent. Some are too close together and you will have to stay with the Maxair and not the II.

My brother had an issue with his and had to go with the standard size with the bathroom vent.

I just happen to have a picture from the day I picked it up! It looks clear from vent pipe, however looks pretty close to the edge of roof?

II simply because its hinged. I open mine once or twice a year just to get to occasional pine needle or leaf that finds its way under the cover.

I have had the MaxxAir on my old TT. I put a MaxxAire II on my new Eagle. Leaves did get in with the Maxxair. Havent had the MaxxAir II to notice yet, but it does hinge. Your vent location may restrict you from using the II because it is wider.

I replaced the stock fan with a Fantastic Fan and a Fantastic cover which fit the fan like a glove and did not foul the adjacent bathroom vent.

Duke,

I installed the Maxxair II because of more vents then the Maxxair. Had the Maxxair on a previous trailer. IMO both are good.
Both can be hinged, but the Maxxair II comes with the hinge kit and for the Maxxair you need to buy the hinge kit separately.

Very easy to install.

Note: I remove the screen from the Maxxair II vent during camping season. Snaps in and out very easily. By removing the screen it greatly increases the airflow through the vent.

Personally, I got a Camco - cheaper, just as easy to install, and also opens for cleaning if needed...

Get the Max II as it will be what you need when you eventually understand that the oem stink fan does nothing to help venelate the RV and you install a fantastic fan.

The FF install is very straight forward, same roof opening, 12v power is already there, and all you need is sealant. If you wait a year or 2 to step up to the FF and then make the decision, you will regret the delay. They work and are a great way to cool your RV without running the A/C.

+1

Install an upgraded fan first and then a cover. Essential mod.

Agree with everyone I just replaced my bathroom fan on my new 29rks with a maxxair with remote and put the fanmate over it as it has molded clips to intall or remove takes 2 minutes. Now I am also a fan of the fantastic fan as that is what I have had for 5 years in my custom sleeper on my semi, though the remote is not as user friendly as the maxxair ( a 5 year on can understand how to operate it), and I like the twin arms.

I removed the original fan and installed the vortex fan. It installs in the original opening without the need to break any of the original roof seals. It wasn't that bad to install. This spring im adding the Maxx air ii. I totally forgot about the stink-pipe clearance. Now im nervous it won't fit.

I installed the Max Air II on mine, it has the hinge for easy cleaning...love it for those rainy days and still leave the vent open.

Save your money on the hinged cover.. I cannot see any use for that.... Just another way to separate a camper from his money
(OK that is a generic his)

It costs no more and if you ever get a leaf under there, it will drive you nuts rattling around. When they first came out a hinge kit was $8.00.. Now it's std.

I put a Maxx 2 on my trailer and also on my parents' 26BH. I like being able to open it up and clean underneath, and also easily and quickly inspect the caulking underneath that it covers when closed.

It is possible to install it without drilling any holes into your roof as well, as this seems like the logical way to do it. It can be mounted to the aluminum vent hole shroud and essentially hovers overtop of the roof, attached only to the metal raised lip of the vent hole.
