Micro Mods

I call these Micro Mods because they cost very little if anything to do. Just simple stuff that makes RVing life a little easier.

This hole in the step makes a great place to hook the dog's leash.

A loose tea ball from the dollar store filled with in-wash scent booster beads makes a great air freshener. Hang it from the A/C vents to help spread the scent around.

No photo of this one, but since we use old plastic grocery bags for trash in our trailer, we've found that stuffing them into an empty tissue box cuts down on the amount of room they take up, and they dispense very easily.

Does anyone else have quick and easy mods they've done that cost almost nothing?

I like the air freshener and trash bag ideas!

I added a USB charger with voltage meter, now I can monitor the battery and charge my phone.

Most of us have little kids or g-kids, right? Well we use an empty 'baby wipe' container for our grocery/trash bags.

Spice Racks

Simple mod, added spice holders to the back of over kitchen cabinet door, hold spice jars that we refill when needed but the DW found additional uses for the holder, go figure.

I’m going to have to say Command Hook items. I use them everywhere, from key holders to scrub brush holders and picture frame mounts. Cheap and awesome

For a few bucks, this over-the- door rack adds a lot of functional storage. Install was such an ordeal — I had to stick felt pads on the metal clips to prevent scratching. Took an entire 3 minutes

That dog hook... I like the location and convenience... but with a 160lb mastiff who has been known to hit the end of her leash trying to reach kid to drool on... I'm not sure I'd want to put my steps at risk like that.

We do have trouble finding good places to tie her up when in cramped quarters. In larger spaces, she's often tied to the picnic table, with enough slack that the collar end can be hung on the door safety handle (the one attacked next to the door), for easy access when she's inside.

Our dog, Sierra, is only 40 lbs, so the step is strong enough to stop her. Our last dog Yukon, an 80 lb husky cross, was known to drag the picnic table across the campsite when someone he knew showed up and he couldn't wait to see them.

We've got two pups over 100lbs, both of which have working and pulling in their breeds.
We just loop a jacketed steel cable through a wheel on our trailer.
Even our small pups would have a hard time dislodging a full 13,000lb

Even better is a remote thermometer so you don't need to open the door to find out! We don't have that yet, but have a similar thermometer to you.

I've done two that spring quickly to mind.

1 was mounting 2 cup holders to the side of the sofa in my 23RB. Anyone siting on the sofa near the wall has a counter to set a drink. The person sitting near the entrance door doesn't.

The 2nd was mounting a double clear plastic pocket on the back of the dinette. I use them to hold the remotes, when we are parked.

We did the cable through the wheel of the trailer when we took our puppy. Buddy was a Bullmastiff and weighed in at 125lbs of pure muscle at his peak. A little over a year since we had to put him down. We miss him like no one can believe. As much as he slobbered on everything and everyone he was the best.

I added similar units with a 12v port as well as USB in the bottom of the upper cabinet so the jacks sit above the counter. Also in the sidewall of the basement so I can plug in and charge while outside using a device

What a beautiful looking dog he was! He looks like he was strong enough to pull a trailer right off the chocks if he put his mind to it.

Not my mod, but dog related. I saw a camper last year who attached a cable to each end of his awning roller. Then he attached his dog's leash to the cable. This allowed the dog pretty good range on the campsite, and kept the lead up off the ground so it didn't keep winding around the obstacles. Very smart!

Drink Holder Micro Mod

I didn't add pictures to my earlier "micro mods" post. I'll add them here, but they will probably show up sideways or upside down.

1st is the drinker holders.
