After several camping trips of not using our microwave I began brainstorming how to better utilize the space. I came up with this idea, I put an outlet in the back to plug in our rechargeables (phones, camera, etc.). The outlet simply has a small cord the plugs into the outlet where the microwave was plugged in. This new space is great and removes some of the clutter that ended up on the counter.

I love this idea! We have used our microwave maybe three times in three years, but we are always looking for ways to get the clutter off the counter.

our microwave is a glorified breadbox. We do use it periodically, but not often. if it is used it typically is for our first nights meal as it usually is leftovers.

Last week, we destination-camped outside Pittsburgh to visit Pitt. We stopped at Trader Joe's nearby and picked up lots of Indian food. We prepared it in our microwave at our electric site at Keystone SP. We had a nice spread. It's nice to have options for all types of camping.

Perhaps consider storing removed appliances and such so when you sell the RV, you can provide them to the buyer should they wish their reinstallation (different lifestyle = different needs).

Nice mod. We don't use our microwave either. Well it gets used for storage of food items sometimes but nothing else.

The stock microwave is safely stored in the basement, no modifications were made to the travel trailer. It would take less than 10 minutes to take the storage unit out and slide the microwave back in.
