Mods to Make Lower Cabinet Space into Drawers

Thanks to Force's post, I decided to also build drawers for under the dinette. I will also take his idea to add 2 drawers under the master bed. But that will be tomorrows work.

While I was in there, I decided to add support to the seats. They Really need it.

Looks great. Funny, DW has the same step stool. This camper isn't designed for short people

Yeah, even though she's 6' tall she uses this to get into the cabinets over the TV & the shelves in the outside kitchen.

Dave, did you screw those supports in with the same screws 1 1/2 inch?

Actually they are 1 1/4" screws just slightly angled them so they won't poke through the other side. Plus is pre-drilled and screwed all of the cross members too. I'm surprised how Jayco built the seats. They don't look like they will really hold much weight over time.

Scott, every screw you see in this pic is new, I added them all for better support.

Well the last 3 drawers are done. Just have to wait for the drawer fronts to dry before I can add the semi gloss poly.
Thanks for the ideas Tom.

looking good Dave. I never thought about that open area near the bunks for a drawer.

Yeah, that space under the bed is large but harder to get into. This drawer is like 13 1/2"W x 30" D. Wife loves it. Plus she still have enough under-bed storage for extra blankets and stuff!

Awesome. Looks like you moved the vertical supports closer to the center so you could get wider drawers? I considered that, wish I had now that I see yours.

Yes I did. Although not shown I also added additional supports under the shock mounts. After reading that other post where someones bed blew apart because the shocks may have given out, I figured it can't hurt.

Ok, last few mods done before today's trip down the Cape for 4 nights of camping. Cutting board & magnetic knife holder installed.

Drawer front installed & ready to go.

And another 'borrowed' idea from Tom

Now I just have to load up the bikes, hook up the TV and head out.
Enjoy your Holiday weekend, wherever your going.

Happy Camping

Awesome. I like the knife holder, but DW preferred a spice shelf there so will try using the slotted knife setup that came behind the stove (need to get a decent knife set first)

Holy cow! I didn't realize there was that much room for a drawer that big next to the furnace. I'll have to add one there too.

What drawer slides were used on this project? Weight capacity? I've purchased a couple slides from Rockler before and they were not cheap. TIA.

I think they are rated for 75lbs.
