Mounting a TST brand TPMS

I decided I wanted to have my TPMS mounted on the dash right in front of me and that is a slanted surface ……. I fabbed up a mount to restrain it. The work is documented here in the event it will assist someone else. I got the sheet metal for the mount from Home Depot …… thick enough and yet very “bendable”.

I laid out the rubber TST mount on the sheet metal with a scribe and cut it with tin snips. Once the outline was cut, I bent up the side flanges with a “hand seamer” ….. a tool I used a lot in my AC business many years ago. One of the welder’s vise grip tools would work well too.

After rounding off the sharp edges of the sheet metal mount, I cleaned the mounting surface with isopropyl alcohol and applied strips of 2-sided 3m VHB tape.

I cleaned off the dash surface and pressed the sheet metal mount onto the surface. It “ain’t goin’ nowhere”.

On the attached pics, you will likely need to click on them once or twice to read the annotations.

Good times and safe travels, all.
