New Back Splash

I just installed a vinyl peel and stick back splash on the wall behind the sink and stove. I bought the kit from Home Depot and it was very easy to install. Click image for larger version

Super looking job! Did you leave the paper backsplash on or take it off before you installed the stick-on tile? Will you be putting it on the side cabinet also? We have that mod on the "to-do list" for this year.

I cleaned the surface but didn't try to remove anything. I am going to get another kit and go to the bottom of the upper cabinet, but I am going to leave the wood on the side as is. I intend to do the same thing around our bathroom sink, The only thing holding me back is the cost. Each 12 panel kit is about $100.00.

I was wondering how these peel and stick tiles survive over cold winter storage, any loosening, cracking, coming unstuck or other problems? I live in central Alberta, -30 temperatures aren't uncommon during winter.

When our son was about 4 years old, I took him out after dark to see the Christmas lights I had installed that day. He took one look at them and said, "Nice job, Daddy, lights". He's 26 now and to this day that's our way of complimenting each other. So I will just say, "Nice job, bed685, back splash".

One small addendum to my story. He now calls me Dad. I'd be a little worried about him if he still called me "Daddy" at 26 years old.

Added tiles three years ago and they are holding tight today after 3 Wisconsin winters.

Mine were stainless steel tiles from another big box home improvement store. While I can't know for certain, the sticky back stuff is likely the same if not very similar. We applied onto the existing paper after cleaning with alcohol. Once the sticky stuff touched the wall, it was there to stay.

bed365 Has it pulled the wallpaper off the board yet? I did not do what you did but I attached a power strip to the wall with quake putty and the thing pulled the paper off the wall..
