Outland Firebowl Conversion

So living out West (Colorado) we see a lot of fire bans. Most consist of no camp fires or charcoal grills but propane grills are allowed. Camping without a camp fire just is not the same. We looked at several different propane fire pits but settled on the Outland Fire pit. It was priced right and seemed to have the most realistic flame. The thing I wanted to do was run it off the quick connects I plumbed into my pop up. However that meant I would lose the ability to use it in the backyard.
So time to start thinking about how to have the best of both Worlds. So a 1 female quick connect, 2 male quick connects and a couple brass fittings and I can now run it off the camper or the stock regulator.

1) Is the 25’ hose I had made to hook up to the camper.

2) Is the stock hose with regulator that the fire pit came with from the factory.

3) Is the female portion of the quick connects.

Great mod. You've got the best of both worlds.

We just replaced our "little red" firepit with an Outland Fire Bowl this year, too. I agree, MUCH better for sitting around when the fire bans are in effect.

We just got back from Maryhill State Park, WA... after arriving the day the level 2 evacuation order was lifted! (level 1 = get ready / level 2 = get set / level 3 = GO).
They had a massive brush fire not a 1/2 mile from the campground. The awesome firefighters got it contained and out within 48 hours. Whew!

I am guessing that your quick connect must be AFTER the unit’s pressure regulator??? I have modified my unit to include a “T” between the onboard tank and the regulator. The quick connect is on the high pressure side of the regulator. I will somehow need to keep the firebowl stock regulator in the connection line. Let me know if you have a thought.

Outland Firebowl Conversion Question`

Great post, and that is exactly what I'm wanting to do. Can you post part #'s, descriptions or even better a link to the parts you used?

Just don't want to waste my time and money getting the incorrect parts.

Thank you

We have a fire pit also. So far I have been using what came with the unit and a separate #20 tank. I have a hose to hook it up to the camper. Have you tried it? Does the camper supply enough propane? Jay
