Passthrough Hatch

So, I've got a 2019 Jay Feather 27RL and the front passthrough has some pretty small hatch doors.

The 2020 and 2021's have a lot larger access doors on them.

The passthrough on the 20's and 21's are the same size as the 19's but they didn't put the larger hatch doors on the 19's.

I'd like to replace these small doors with the larger doors.

I am trying to figure out where I could source the larger doors. I'd have to have the complete assembly x2.

I haven't been able to find a part number or a place to get them.

If anyone has an idea of where to get the part number and/or a source for getting these, I'd really appreciate it.

And yes, I am sure the newer ones will work. I will just have to enlarge the opening and seal everything up properly.

Google rv storage hatch door or use the same term on Amazon, about any size you want will come up.

I'm really wanting to at least install factory hatch doors and frames though.

I have contacted Jayco Factory Direct parts.

I'm sure they will give me some kind of run around on attempting to order parts for a different year.

The problem you may and will probably run into is the framing. Normally there is aluminum or wood framing that outlines the opening that the hatch frame is secured too.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. I'll have to look more closely to see if that's the case.

Thanks for bringing that point up to my attention Grumpy.

Contact Jayco support with you VIN, they should send you the schematics for your trailer including the walls. That will show you the stud layout.

That's a good ideal Colby.

I'd, at least, know where the studs are. I know it has the aluminum framing with the "vacuum" walls.
But I don't know where the studs are.

Well, the Jayco Factory Direct parts are telling me that "without a VIN # for the unit that you are looking for the doors, we cannot pull the parts to give you a price."

What????

I don't have a VIN # for a 2020 or 2021 Jay Feather 27RL!!!!

What, they can't look up a part on a computer or a dang parts book? Jeez.

There's a chance they use different parts in different campers of the same year and model. It all depends on the part availability.

Try to find one on a lot, locally and get the VIN off it.

Thanks for the advise JKyle.

I did some searching and haven't found anything close, as of yet.

Did a nationwide search on RVTrader and found a 2021 for sale.

The sale add actually has the VIN#, so I just shot that to my contact at Jayco Factory Direct.

Hopefully that's what they needed. LOL

I have one 20x30 black compartment door for sale, new in the box, that I was going to put on a previous trailer but got rid of the trailer before I got to it. Just get a door the size you want. The framing on the door adjusts for wall thickness variation.

I was cleaning under my rig this week above the coroplast and in the rear between the Coroplast and the underside of the floor, attached to the frame was a metal plaque with my Vin# stamped on it.
Never knew about that one!

I did hear back from Jayco Factory Parts and I can get the larger 12" x 24" door, frame, mounting hardware, turn latch, and seal for $408 each shipped!!!

That isn't near as much as I thought they would be LOL.
I figured they would say something like a grand each.

Now, I just have to measure and make absolutely sure these will work on the 19 model.

And, as Grumpy stated, there may be studs that I have to deal with to install the larger hatch.

Unfortunately, a 20 x 30 would most likely be to large for this application Bugzilla.

I'm looking to do something similar. I already have a cutout with vent for a 2 way fridge, except I have a 12v fridge...so really, no need for the vent. Behind it is a nice area the would be great for storage. 2022 was the last year they offered a choice of either type fridge. As of the 2023's they changed exclusively to 12v fridges and converted that vent opening to a really nice baggage door, with access to that extra space behind the fridge.

The vent is a smaller size than the access door that now occupies that space in newer models. I'd like to investigate, to see if I can't make that baggage door happen.

My wife said there was a bolt slightly poking up in the middle of our floor. I went under to see if I could find where it was but couldn’t find it. I got out my shop vac and vacuumed out every cob web I saw.
BTW, never could find it, hit it with a rubber hammer and it went back down?
