Power Charger Upgrade

Hey All,

I have a 2016 Jayco JayFeather X17Z, since the first year i have had charging problems. The dealership is useless that I bought it from, I have swapped batteries two times. The charger is only putting out 11volts and its killing my batteries. I want to upgrade it to something better as I have read a lot of negative reviews on the stock WFCO brand. My challenge is how can I just replace the charger and not have to worry about all the power blocks/breaker switches. Not sure if there is enough room to swap out and put a larger Progressive Dynamics one in....

Suggestions?

Thanks

If you are needing something when TT is being stored, then just buy a 3amp smart battery charger, or larger if desired and an extension cord. I use a BatteryMinder 1.5amp battery charger/maintainer on my TT rather than the converter. My set up is easy to connect/disconnect as the extension cord has to be moved to cut the yard, etc.

I am going the upgrade the factory wfco on our 2018 to the pd4060:

https://www.progressivedyn.com/rv/po...r-4000-series/

Sizing is really close and will charge the batteries much faster. It has 4 stage charging.

I just swapped out my poor performing 2018 WFCO 8955 converter/charger with a Progressive Dynamics 4655L MBA Wildkat 55 Amp "Up-grade" Converter/Charger and was a pretty straight forward task..., R&R a few screws & 5 wires (slide WFCO out and slide PD in). Didn't have to remove or replace the existing WFCO breaker/fuse power center hardware/box.

The best charge voltage I could get with the WFCO 8955 was 13.4Vdc - 13.6Vdc....., the PD 4655L immediately provided me with 14.1Vdc - 14.2Vdc on a fully pre-charged 12V battery (initiated with included remote).

PD 4655L MBA WildKat 55 Amp Main Board Assembly for WFCO 8955 or Parallax 7155 (Includes 4600 Remote)

Contact Randy at "Best Converter" if you have any questions.

Yep, that WildKat kit is a great way to go. Even this technical/mechanical challenged person could do it.
