Rear sofa mod

Has anyone modified the rear sofa to be used as a comfortable full-time twin bed at night and could still be used as a sofa during the day. Were using a Tempur-pedic topper on top of the sofa at night but it’s still not that comfortable after a while.

I don’t know what model you have, or the sofa installed. I’ll assume it’s the jackknife, because those things are horrible. You can replace it with a same length tri-fold, which are pretty comfortable. The next step up
Is a full-on sleeper sofa. I replace the jackknife in mine with a tri-fold. Took off the front with 3 screws, then 4 bolts and it was out. New one was just as simple to install.

JackKnife Sofa Bed Replacement

We have an x213 and hated the JackKnife sofa so built a replacement this summer. Used "crib" slats from IKEA , a few 1X2s and Memory Foam twin mattress off the internet. Very comfortable and you can slide it out part-way for a wider seat and more relaxed back position. No fancy woodworking - just a chop saw to cut wood to length.

We had a fold-out sofa/bed. Our son n DIL complained about the bed numerous times and the sofa wasn’t very comfortable to sit on. My mod was to haul it to the curb on heavy trash day and replace it with Thomas Payne theater seats (recliners) and use an inflate-a-bed for night time.
Everyone wins.
