Replace the thermostat

Can this stock thermostat be replaced with one that will tell me the temperature and let me set a digital temperature? Which thermostat would you recommend?

I'm switching mine with this one Honeywell RTH5100B1033/A 1025 Deluxe Manual Thermostat (White) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B005UTVEHY/..._uIyRAbPMZAXES

Adding a toggle switch for the high and low fan speed.

I thought this would be a nice idea as well but it's not available at that link where I live in Michigan (perhaps only available in Canada).

That looks like the same heat-only Atwood thermostat we had in our 195RB. I swapped it out for this one:

Any thermostat that operates on batteries will work. You may choose to add the toggle switch for fan speed or just wire for low or high only. It only effects the speed in the fan only setting . I have used the honeywell focus pro 5000 in my last 3 trailers. There are plenty of wiring schematics on Google for assistance. Check eBay for the t-stat.

I installed a LuxPro 511LC thermostat in place of my original one. Works fine for both Heat and AC. I think I got it on amazon. If I remember correctly, the reason I got this model was that you could adjust the on/off range. Where most thermostats are fixed by the manufacturer.

I used a replacement Coleman Digital Thermostat. It has the high/low fan speed switch already and is a direct wire for wire swap.

I hope you like your RV Coleman. I bought one to put in. It arrived on Thursday and I will install it today. I have been waiting for a RV upgrade thermostat. I did not like the idea of modifying a home thermostat to work.

It depends on what you have for your present thermostat. If you have heat only control an only two wires it should work fine. But if you have both A/C and heat controlled by it, it becomes a bit more involved.

If you have a thermostat like the one shown above, the one you suggested should work fine. Those Atwood thermostats are terrible pieces of junk.

Yeah, the photo it looked like heat only. But as mentioned if it isn't heat only it's more wires and such. I'm pretty sure that Atwood is pretty much what was in ours, but a Dometic. Same basic thing.

Thermostat

The thermostat I bought was a Coleman. I am not sure what company built it. I bought this one because the TT had a Coleman thermostat in it. The one I bought even used the same screw holes.

I am not sure if the captions will come out, but I level the trailer by using the bottom of the fridge. I show a pic of the level on the fridge bottom and than level the thermostat to the fridge.

This is what I used for our heating-only T-stat replacement on the furnace -

I installed a Coleman digital in our Jayco HT 28.5 but had problems with it resetting itself to its default 72 degrees when running the heater. I think I now have it solved by running a separate 12 volt positive wire to the thermostat directly from the electrical control center. I say 'think' because I ran the heater through 3 or 4 heat cycles and it worked fine. Our control center had many unused circuits so I installed a 15 amp fuse in one and ran the new wire.

Until my current trailer, I always replaced that piece of junk with an inexpensive Honeywell thermostat bought at Lowe's or Home Depot. But those only controlled heat, so were simple to install.

My current trailer is the first RV I've had that had central heat and cooling. Because of this, this time, I replaced the analog Coleman thermostat, with a digital Coleman thermostat. This way I didn't have to worry about any surprises when wiring. I just matched wire for wire. And to make sure I didn't mess anything up, I switched one wire at the time.

The one I installed would do what you want, if I understand you correct. It will do both Air cond and heater, it also has High/Low for the fan. My install is on this page above your question. My swap was wire color for wire color. It even used the same screw holes. I just took the extra time to level it.
