Replaced Bauer Locks with Matched Global Link Locksets

I was recently tipped off to Global Link (RV Locks and More) here on the JOF. If you are looking for replacement locks, Global Link has a great (secure) website for ordering, take electronic payment and they shipped very quickly. A replacement door lock and matching cargo lock with spare key(s) was about $35 - and I can go back for additional matching locks and keys anytime. The cargo locks are very reasonable at $5 each. All keylocks have a weatherized keyslot, are fully chromed and the key removes in open and closed positions.

The Global Link door lockset is all metal (Powder Coated) compared to the Bauer (which primarily plastic and metal). Not saying one is better than the other....but I no longer have any concern about the quality of the Global Link. The product is marketed as a direct replacement for Bauer, but I had to perform some careful alignment to cover the corners of the lockset rough opening on the door. With all metal hardware, I put a touch of locktite on the screw threads (rather than overtighten them to keep from vibrating loose).

Having 1 key for all my locks was worth a few extra bucks....(my humble opinion)

I misspoke when saying "all keylocks are chrome"....the lock nose, key slot weather guard, and escutcheons are stainless steel. The cargo lock body is chrome plated along with the retainer nut and other hardware.

I have always wonder about the rationale of having different door locks. If you are ale to get in one, what difference does it make that the other one takes a different key? If you're in, you're in..

Just ordered replacements for mine. Wife managed to get the key for the big storage door to work in the main door to unlock it, then could not get the key out, just before leaving on a trip of course. I took the lock set out and managed to remove the key. Now the correct key is having issues working in the lock. Why would you install 3 of the same style lock and not key them the same. So I am looking at going from 4 keys per key ring to ONE. Go ahead DW, try to use the wrong key now.

This has been driving me nuts on our 16XRB, the latches for the pop outs are one key, the door another, the single storage compartment another and the outside shower is yet another different key. A real blast of logic when they decided to do that, ill be looking into changing them out for these in the near future, thanks!

I have been looking at Global for a few years. Our HTT has three or four different keys (you can tell its been in storage way to long). I have priced out all new locks assemblies, if I go the expensive route it was $110, that included new latch assemblies for the bunk ends. If I could get the key core key, I could drop the price to about $45 dollars.

Glad to hear it worked nicely. My biggest concern was the rough opening on my main door as it looked fairly large.
