Replaced our stereo with an Android Head unit

We got tired of the stock radio/dvd in our TT and decided to replace it with an Android head unit. It's set up with individual switches to control the speaker groups by relays and a computer concealed in the cabinet behind with a remote power switch routed to the front panel as well.

Check out a short video on You Tube.

In for the details... This is the kind of hack I would love to do. I just finished building a MOFI like WiFi repeater/cell hotspot/router and added a Synology DS118 as our Plex Media server. Now we can watch movies over WiFi on both the living area and master beedroom. This would be perfect to run the sound throught the RV speakers.

The stereo is a Hizpo from Amazon which is a generic Android Oreo 8.1 headunit made by the Chinese. It works well for the most part but has it quirks since its android.

The panel, which we ordered from frontnpanel express will allow any double din sized stereo to be used We designed the panel using the free software they have on their site. It fits the stock huge sized stereo screw holes perfectly.

Aftermarket headunits normally dont have speaker selector switches since they are designed mostly for the automotive world. We overcame that problem with a few relays and 16mm round switches readily found on eBay and amazon.

The space behind the stereo in our Eagle was quite large so we moved our mini itx pc into that space and wired the power switch, hdd Led and usb ports onto the panel freeing up space in our other cabinets.
