Replacing carpet w/ hard floors in slides

Hey Gang
Anyone here successfully remove the carpeting in their slides and replace with the faux hardwood/ vinyl that is found throughout the rest of the floors?

Sure, I know that there will be a lip greater in height than the edge of the carpet. But the swearing from stubbing a toe on that will not generate half the swearing heard when cleaning the carpet.

We are resolved to do this by hook or by crook so we would love to hear from anyone who has done it who can share tips and gotchas.

Thanks
Angus

Angus, all I can offer is "I wouldn't do it"!! It's such a small piece of carpet and half of it, at least on my model is covered by the two recliners.

Check the rv lots of some of the other manufacturers. I have seen vinyl on others but can't remember which ones. This may give you some ideas. I have wondered why more don't use vinyl

Grand Designs is doing it on some Solitudes but we have not seen it in person yet; Just in on-line photos. Looks like they just let the layer from the slides slide across the top of the floor.

Prolly easier to throw carpet over and staple down to slide floor, leaving a hemmed edge to move over the vinyl floor. This would be more tolerant of minor gaps or misalignment, I imagine.

Funny, now all the adverts on the right side of my screen are for floor removal contractors. Wonder how they knew.

Merry Christmas to all.

We recently looked at the 2020 Montana’s. They use a type of carpet that is woven PVC. It’s used in boats. It looks great and inpervious to anything. I’m seriously thinking about replacing my carpet with it. If you’re interested here is their website.

A year later and we finally got around to it. Just over $200 and a day and a half of work at a casual pace. Vinyl click-together planks and 90 degree stair nose for the transition. Cats can barf all they want to now.

Great Job!
Do you think that technique would work on a Seneca?

Here’s what I did in the Fleetwood we just traded for the Jayco. I did the driver and passenger floor also.
