If I were to do it again, I would get the double powered recliner offered by CampingWorld. Each side has a cupholder and a seat vibrator. How cool is that? And the price, as I recall, is well under $1,000. The Camping World website is down right now, so I can't go get a photo or verify the $.

But either way, I needed to build the rolling platform to support the front frame of the recliner.

Hope this helps.
Oops sorry- I was addressing your post. Good suggestion on camping world they are close to us! I also need power recliner due to my physical situation right now so know those will be a little pricier but was quoted $5600 by a remodel company to remove dinette, add the recliners & a cabinet! Think that is a little high!

Great, helpful pics. My current jack knife sofa weighs 100 lbs. and is on a slide. Any problems installing the 166 lb. recpro 58” loveseat recliner on the slide?

Sorry for the delayed reply on your post regarding the replacement of a couch in your 339FLQS. We have one too and the couches are well worn and in need of replacement. It appears to me that our couches rest on the slide floor which rests about 6 inches above the floor of the living room. Did you find it difficult to remove the couches and find furniture that would fit the raised slide floor? Any advice as to how to go about doing it?

I was copied on your post, I guess because I originated this Greyhawk mod post some time ago. Not sure if you are still looking for feedback. Maybe this could be helpful.

When we bought our Greyhawk 29me, the jackknife sofa was a pathetic piece of furniture. It was uncomfortable and small. So, the first thing we did was remove it and replace it with a powered, dual seat recliner. This was before Camping World offered their RV furniture, so we went to a major regional furniture warehouse for a good selection of replacements. If we were to do it again, we would definitely shop the Camping World recliners. Since the new recliner was more plush, and therefore larger, we had to do some mods on the slide floor.

First, I tapped into a 110v power line that happened to pass under the sofa (that was fortunate) and installed a standard outlet to power the recliner. Next, I built an interior slide extension. The front edge of the new recliner stuck out a little bit over the slide floor, so I needed to provide a floor right in front of the recliner. The recliner height was higher, so without a floor extension under the front of the chair, our feet would dangle in the air. Not very comfortable.

The slide floor extension was simply a rolling platform that attached to the slide floor and rolled along with it as the slide was extended and retracted. It was sized so that when the slides were retracted, it just nestled up against the opposite dinette slide. When the slides are extended, we simply stepped up onto the rolling platform in front of the recliner, and sat normally in the recliner. The recliner is a wall-hugger design, so it extends the footrest and reclines without impacting the exterior wall behind the recliner.

Everything has worked perfectly and offers a comfortable position for my wife and I to watch the TV on the other side of the living area. The only drawback is that the recliner is plush, and therefore larger, so it is more room-filling. The living area looks and feels smaller with such a large recliner. But comfort was more important to us.

I hope this helps. I think I included pics in the original post.

Almost done with my slide extension, to be installed today. And the new “cloth” recpro recliners are so comfortable.

What size bolts/screws did you use to attach to slide out frame? Did you have to put down a piece of board to mount them
To?

Mike,

Not sure, we had ours installed by a local RV dealership. It was bolted down but still original carpet under it so don't think any plywood was installed.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. Got it all finished today. Had to put a 5/8” piece of plywood down due to the 4 inch overhang of the recliners. Bolted down the front and used wood screws for the back that also fasten to the slide out shelf. Took 10 minutes to remove jackknife and about 3 total hours to install recliners only because of the measuring and cutting of the plywood. Turned out great and now we have some much more comfortable seating for my 86 year old father during trips. Thanks to everyone for the responses and help. Our RV service center was booked solid so this was the first time I’ve done anything like this. Order to pay to have it done but it’s definitely satisfying doing it yourself!
