Screen door push bar
I saw this mod on another site and said, "I gotta have that." This is the installation of a Camco 42183 RV Screen Door Cross Bar, available on Amazon for something like $15. It comes in black and white; I ordered the black one to match everything else in the trailer.
It comes with a template and easy to follow instructions. The tools needed consist of a drill with a 1/8" bit, a screwdriver and a tape measure. Installation couldn't be easier and my OCD made me measure 5 times before drilling. I highly recommend this mod if you haven't done it. It makes opening and closing the door a lot easier, and it feels like the extra brace makes the screen door a little stronger, too.
There's two mounting holes on each side, and I put the top mounting hole 3.5" above the top cross bar for the sliding part. While this adds strength and stability to the screen door, I don't think it's strong enough to be able to slam the door shut with the exterior door attached. The exterior door's handle is still the best for that, but this will at least help with opening and closing both doors, IMHO.
Even more importantly, it doesn't look awful, either!

Installed the same handle a few weeks ago and love it. DW closes the exterior door with it all the time and it's plenty strong enough

Added that same handle last year and agree completely on the ease of installation and convenience factor.

Very nice write up and looks great! I have been trying to figure out what to mount on the screen door to be able to close it. I have this bar in my Amazon wish list just haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Can you post a close up picture of where the handle mounts to the screen door?
Thanks!

Great item, got it at WalMart (website) for 12.00. Now I'm going to add a second one on the bottom half of the screen door, both to have something to grab from ground level, and to help protect the screen from the dogs.

Love this bar. Put one on my last 5er and was the first mod on my new 321 a few weeks ago. It's a 10 min install and looks as good as it functions.
Didn't mess with the template. Just put a piece of painters tape on each side of the door frame, assemble the bar (without the screws) lightly tape it together, hold it in place, mark the holes on the tape on the door, drill for the screws in the back of the bar, insert and tighten screws, drill pilot holes in door frame, remove tape, install screws and you're done.

Ours is a little different, but same idea. The area where the handle screws into is narrower:

Also install screen door springs
I also recommend installing the Camco Rv screen door springs. The door just swings back closed with these and it takes about 5 minutes to install. They work great with the push bar!

THANK YOU!!!!
This was the exact info I was looking for as I wasn't sure if this bar could be installed on the screen doors with a bevel/step.

I didn’t have enough of the screen door frame exposed to mount mine so I trimmed the surrounding door frame (aluminum) with a Dremel after tracing a template on the frame. Took me a bit longer but wasn’t too difficult. Love the end result.
