Sirius install.

Just installed. Would love to figure out how to get the antenna wired permanently on the roof. Right now it just goes out the door and thrown on the roof. I've got to get the proper audio cable to hook it to the RCA jacks in the back of the stereo.

I don't know why trailer manufactures don't have the option for satellite radio in their entertainment systems. I have yet to see one offer it.

Looks good! Let me know if you figure out the antennae "thing". I have a portable XM and have to put the antennae in a different window at each camping spot. I suppose you could just mount it to the roof and run the cable down to the receiver???

I mounted a steel bracket inside at the top of my tv shelf. Magnetic antenna sticks to the steel bracket i made. Never had issues getting reception through the roof. See if it works then permenantly install it.

The antenna doesn't have to be outside. My home system has it on top of my entertainment cabinet and it picks up the satellite perfectly through the ceiling and roof.

Have had sat radio w/ 12mos subscription with my last 3 vehicles and maybe tuned in to a station once or twice over the last 10 years. When the free period ran out so did the subscription as I just can't justify paying a monthly fee to listen to broadcasts that are mostly available on over the air stations with a little searching. I put my $$ into sat TV and cell mobile.

Like you though I do wonder why RVs aren't equipped with sat radio by the factory like they are with all cars. The answer I suspect lies in the way the RV industry is made up of many small companies like Jayco. As large as some might be, they all are a spit in the ocean compared to GM or Ford. They just don't have the clout to get a deal from the sat radio companies.

On my Octane I ran the radio antenna up the wall with the radio in it and over to the bathroom vent thru the roof joist. If you take the trim of the vent off you can route the wire to the outside and I filled a small hole in the Max Air cover and mounted it to the top of that wit some 2 sided tape and silicone.

It is a little WORK but here is what you can do... Remove the TV antenna. Drop the cable down through that hole. Replace the tv antenna calk the heck out of it.. put the XM/S antenna end on top of the TV antenna mast.. using the same calking. NOTE when the power is on to the TV antenna booster the XM/S wont work.. this is sort of what I did...

I was considering doing that with the radio antenna since it runs right above the entertainment console.

We take our Sirius unit with us and mount it to the outside of the TT at the entertainment panel. I ran the antenna through the vent space behind the fridge and glued the antenna to the vent cover on the roof. you could run the antenna inside the TT the same way, but sounds you like you have a little different setup than I do.

No. It's the one that came with the trailer from the factory.

The fridge is on the other side of the trailer. The only thing I have above the entertainment console is the radio antenna. That's where I'll see if I can run it through there.

Let us know how it works! I have mine run along the "road side" of the camper (which isn't the best way - I'm anal-retentive and would prefer the wire to be hidden), just forward of the slide out and then it goes into the entertainment cabinet from the bottom of the camper. Sealed up with silicone.
