Slide out awning 28BHBE

We've been camping for the past 9 days, and we have a perfect site over looking the lake; however, we are under a walnut tree and the squirrels are making a mess.

Is there a direct fit awning that I can mount to cover the top of the slide out and prevent trash from potentially caused a weather seal breach?

I am not aware of a direct fit awning. We currently just ordered a 2017 Jayco 28BHBE and are having the factory install one for us as an "add on". So I would contact Jayco and see if they can provide you any information.

This one should fit. https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-Soler...v+slide+awning

There's all different sizes of slide toppers. I think your slide is roughly 13' like mine.
Make sure before you purchase though.

You may want a dometic brand slide topper to match your main dometic awning.

Let us know what you do. I'd like to do the same.

Good luck!

Ok thank you. We didn't get the elite package with a ladder on the back, so it makes cleaning the top of the slide out a pain

Is that the normal shore line of the lake?

I'm guessing it's not. Sad to see all the lakes so low.

It is in the summer.. It's a man made lake controlled by a dam and the corps of engineers. They release more in the summer for farmers in south Ga and Fl that utilize the Chattahoochee.

All toppers are made based on slide out width and depth.

Yeah we were camping over on Allatoona at McKinney a couple weekends ago and the Squirrels were running around knocking the walnuts down, one landed in the bed of my truck and scared the crap out of me it was so loud! Fortunately the trailer was far enough away that they weren't hitting it. We are seriously considering adding a slide topper to our trailer as well. We do a lot of fall camping so the leaves become an issue. We have the ladder so I climb up each time and sweep/blow the slide off. But that's getting old (so am I).
I just don't know if it's a task I want to undertake or if I want to have someone do it.

We camped at Victoria Bryant State Park in Georgia a few weeks ago and I swear the squirrels were doing it on purpose. We would be sitting, all relaxed and then "pow, pow, pow" on the top of the trailer followed by a couple of squirrels running off through the tree branches. I could swear they were laughing.

Lake Lanier is currently (as of 9/30/2016) 6.6 feet below normal. I've seen it as much as 15 feet below normal. The Corp always drops the lake some during the Summer both to keep the river full and to make room for flood control to absorb spring rains. but in years of drought it gets much lower. Check out this website:

Lake Lanier Water Level

At the bottom of the chart, click on the box for 2011 - and that wasn't the worst year in recent history by far - that would have been 2006.

That's why Georgia, Alabama and Florida have been in court for years fighting over "Water Rights".

But it's still a pretty lake - and very deep. Even at its lowest levels it's still great for recreation and fishing.

Of course I know for you folks out west, like on Lake Powell, a few feet down is nothing.

Did you ever add a slide topper to your 28BHBE? We just bought a 2019 BHBE and want to do the same thing. What did you get? How do you like it? Any problems installing? Seams like a few threads on here say Jayco says no...
