Ultralight Shower Wall(s)
Anybody mod their walls for a true shower surround or panels? I can't help but wonder how bad it would be long term to have shower water directly hitting the walls. I know Jayco must have designed it for that purpose, but I can't get over the fact that its just 'wrong'. I see the White Hawks do have the surrounds, as does the Forest River Roo line.

A idea just came to me. Run a line of Velcro down the shower wall(s). Run a line of Velcro down a shower liner. Attach the liner to the wall if the shower will be utilized.
Not elegant but functional and cheap. Any other ideas?

You might try Home Depot of Lowes for a 4x8 sheet of poly board or other thin [1/8in or less], plastic sheeting. You could cut it to fit your dimensions, affix it to the walls, caulk the corner and bottoms. Kinda like your own custom made shower surround without much added weight. Not sure how expensive the stuff is though. I'd be leery too about water hitting the "walls". Good luck.

Another thought, can you paint the walls? Maybe 2 or 3 coats of white, gloss waterproof paint might do the trick as well.

Maybe its b/c refinishing it would be tough? Its not like you can sand the wall down to the 'wood' right? There IS no wood ...

Not sure why shower surround was not included unless it is to reduce weight. The Jayflight line has it.

If I am not mistaken the JayFlight Swift does not have it--or didn't in MY 2012 when we last shopped. I think its more manufacturing cost vs weight.

Yeah I suppose that`s one of the items the Swift line does not have which is why it costs less then the regular Jayflight line. When I bought my trailer there was no Swift, only the Jayflight and Jayflight G2. The tub surround was part of a convenience package on the Jayflight which I ordered (did not cost much), but standard on the G2. Jayco discontinued the G2 line, added the Swift and gave the Jayflights more standard equipment and a wider variety of options.

I looked at a LOT of trailers that didn't have shower surrounds in the shower. And honestly it confuses me greatly. I agree that it just seems wrong to shower right up against the walls...
Anyway, if you add some kind of shower surround, you could add a layer of protection by painting about a 2' band of "red guard" around the bottom before you put in whatever poly sheeting you might use. Double protect by caulking in really well around the bottom, and all the seams, and I would think you'd have a pretty good system!

What about instead of velcro use the tiny 3m hooks with a shower liner. This way the hooks can hold the top (and bottom with use of a hole puncher) but removed without damaging the walls if you change your mind or doesn't look good, unlike the velco.

I'm pretty sure that if you measure your shower opening you can order a surround from Jayco. Some models have it some don't, but they are available. Also try camping world. If mine had come without a shower surround, I would paint it with a thick marine paint, and then attach the vinyl tiles from home depot. Very little extra weight, and very custom.. here is a link.. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Smart-Til...s#.Utgx_qVdGTM
