Under carriage spare tire carrier

Installed this over the week-end in order to get the spare tire out from under the bed. Easy install (with some minor modifications) and cost about $90.

Nice. That is a pretty good idea for types of other storage as well.

Great idea and tell us more. Where did you get the rack and how does it install, is it a one person job?

It almost looks like you have enough room to mount 2 spares??

I installed the same spare tire carrier. Easy to install and use. Nice to get the spare tire off of the rear of my TT. I got mine from Amazon or E-trailer, can't remember which. There are a few different models for different frame styles. Make sure you examine and measure your frame before ordering.

Its called a BAL Hide A Spare and I got it from rvupgrades.com for 89.95. Free and very fast shipping (like 2 days fast!). There are instructions on their website and you do need to make sure of the diminsions between the RV frame members and also the type of frame (I-beam, box frame, etc.). I have an I-beam frame and had to cut some slots in the hanger plate due to some "struts" that were in the way on my frame. It includes bolts to attach the spare tire to the carrier but the frame mounting bolts are not included. I use all stainless bolts, washers and lock nuts. Its an easy one-person job and the instructions are, for the most part, are helpful. There's a threaded knob that is used to secure everything when it is stored. I found the cotter pin to be difficult to use so will be purchasing a lock to replace the threaded knob. Hope this helps

I agree the pin to keep the threaded knob in place is a bit of a pain to install. One thing I have already learned is to grease the threads of the knob before installing, and remove the knob at least once a year and re-grease. (like every time you check the air pressure on the spare tire).
