Under queen bed plywood edge mod needed

We have a 2016 27BHS. The plywood the queen bed sits on above the storage compartment. I'm looking for some ideas to "finish" the edge so that it can't snag the sheets and other bedding. Any ideas?

I have a 174bh and thought the same thing. I was thinking of sanding and staining the wood.

Get some iron on plywood edge banding and use an iron to apply it to the edge. Most home centers and hardware stores will carry it.

Should work, am going to try it myself on my 195rb slx queen slx bed platform.

I also reinforced the edge with a 1 x 2 and screws to allow sitting on the edge without breaking it.

My wife suggested wrapping it in felt. No more snags, loose wood and it makes it look nicer.

As an inexpensive fix, I wrapped the entire edge of the plywood in black gaffers tape ( like duct tape but more of a material feel).

Looks good! How did you attach it? Staple to the bottom?

Thanks! Yes, just fold and staple. Has about 4" overlap all around.

same piece of furniture, different topic.
because of the short queen mattress, we pulled the mattress away and shoved a rolled blanket between the headboard and mattress. Now there really isn't enough plywood at the end of the bed to support the mattress or hold the sheets.

Has anyone tried to add an extension to the board? I figure I can scab one to the end, or unfasten the hinge and scab one at the top.

Just scrap the whole piece and start from scratch. Make it as long as you wish. I scrapped 75% of the whole bed frame, blocked off the pass through and put a new, thicker everything. Also changed the hinge point. Love it.

on our first trailer they gave us a full queen but only had a short queen board....I just layered a piece from the hinge down to the length of the full queen...the uneven was not noticeable at all...just heavier to lift.

Can you tell me the dimensions of the plywood? Do you use a short queen mattress?

I used Trim-Lock press on edging on the plywood edge on our Seneca.

The problem with replacing the plywood with a longer piece is that you can't get plywood wide enough. You'd need two pieces. Consider adding a piece to the head of the bed and moving the hinge and lifts back accordingly.

You'll want to reinforce the bed pedestal. Lots of info on that already. I put a wall across where the pass-thru is, notched to make room for the lift.
