Voltameter and Cigarette Lighter on Battery Box

This is the battery box for my boat. I added a voltameter and cigarette lighter to the top of the box. This is a group 24 sealed deep cycle battery in a group 24 sized box.

About the voltameter: It's waterproof with green LED. You can find details for it here.

The cigarette lighter was something I already had attached to the battery, just dangling outside the box. I use the cigarette lighter for low voltage applications (such as cell phone charging) so I'm not worried about heat. Just in case, I also installed a 5 amp, inline fuse. Come to think of it, I've never used it for anything but charging my cell phone.

Construction: I cut holes for everything using a combination of drill bit, hole cutter, jig saw, and file. I added duct tape to the holes and then poked the items in to seal the seems.

I like the voltmeter install idea - Not much of a cigarette lighter fan here...

In my case since all of my batteries are paralleled all of the voltmeters would read the same DC Voltage. I would have to switch to OFF on my three battery four position switches to isolate all of the batteries. Having a push-to-read switch might be more of my liking - being "ON" all the time might light up the neighborhood haha

thanks for the source info - I definitely need one of these on my truck dash panel. My older truck allowed you to step thru the information panel and read your battery voltage but my newer 2010 model took that option away. I kinda like to see my start battery status readout at times. Got just the empty small hole on my dash to mount your DC Voltmeter display
