Window tinting

I am thinking about tinting my bunk house windows. For some reason, Jayco put curtains in those windows and no blinds. The TT is stored and I figure any additional protection I can give it is good. I figure it will also keep it cooler back there. Here is what I am looking at. http://www.lowes.com/Home-Decor/Wind...ow+tint&rpp=16 has any one ever used this product? Any hints on install. They have different colors, I think I am leaning towards the black rather than the platnium. I read the reviews, some people apparently have great difficulty while others do not. Of course, no one talks about installing in a TT. Thanks for the help.

I installed solar screens on my tt, man what a difference it made in the summer texas heat we have. I made them so i could take them on and off. Cost me about 125.00 with the screen and tbe stainless steel snaps. Heres a couple of pics

going to do my bed windows soon. I'd just pick up a roll from your local auto parts store. Gets the job done and alot cheaper (expecially if you mess up cutting etc)

There are 2 key elements to a great job. Lots of soapy water and a rigid plastic squeege. If you think there is too much water on the window then keep going. Start from the middle and work out towards the edges. Not having the unit in direct sunlight will help too. I have not done my units windows but vehicles with success.

I have a Eagle 322FKS and tinted all my windows with window film from Lowes, color smoke , Job is easy just get a small very sharp knife, put the film over the window before you remove the paper backing, film towards the window, the film will stick, and you can trace around the paper, if you are good can you can cut the film and paper, then pull the film & backing from the window, remove the back, spray the window with window tint adhering spray, also bought @ Lowes. apply the film, you can slide it around on the window, use the squeezy to push the air bubbles towards the edge of the glass, let it dry. The first window will be a learning curve, the rest are easy, just time consuming. The tinted windows make a big difference in cooling and add to the privacy. Take your time and have the a/c on you will sweat working in the tight areas. Happy Camping

I personally own and operate an automotive tinting business so I have tinted a "couple" windows in the last 9 years lol. I would HIGHLY recommend finding a reputable tinting business and buy the tint from them. Anything that Lowes, Canadian Tire, Walmart, etc sells is a horrible product that will deteriorate very quickly (some within a year). By deteriorate I mean turn blue to purple, eventually delaminating and bubbling. So, unless you want to have to pull it all off and re-do it, spend the extra money and get a high quality film backed by a lifetime warranty. Be it dyed, ceramic, metalized...you get what you pay for. I was super happy when my 2013 32BHDS came from the factory with all the windows already tinted. Do some searches on YouTube...plenty of do-it-yourself videos.

Almost forgot one of the most important things...DO NOT use carbon steel blades to cut the tint on the window. Use ONLY stainless steel. Carbon steel will score/scratch the glass...not cool!

just finished mine. Did the bottom and bunk top window with 20% (what I had estra from doing my TV). I left the bunk bottom window untouched for now just because with the screen its pretty dark.

I have a 2011 Jayco Eagle superlight 5er. I paid a professional to tint all our windows the darkest they had. Cost just a little over $200.00 and they are great. Not only has it cut down of the heat inside, you cannot see inside from the outside, but you can see out. Looks like a limo. The bonus is being able to see what is going on in the camp ground without anyone seeing you from the outside.

I went the cheap route and just used sunshades like you would use in your TV windshield. I got 6 of them from ebay for a very reasonable price. I like the fact that you can remove them to allow light in when you want to and can put them up when you want privacy.

Like many, I tinted my RV/TT windows as well. Simple parts from auto parts store and "take it slow". Applied limo dark tint film to the kid's bedroom windows. Now, they sleep in longer (which is a very good thing). Very easy DIY task. If need help, view lots of You-Tube videos. Worked for me... And yes, my next RV/TT bedroom windows will get tinted (dark limo) again.

This is all good advice. I've seen a lot of really crappy tint jobs done with cheap materials.

I agree with the guys that do it for a living....you get what you pay for. I have installed tint from pre-cut kits off of eBay and used Gila and other brands from Wally World and auto parts stores but they all fail within a few years. Find a reputable tinter in your area that does on-site tinting and have it done...those windows are small and flat so it should be a quick and easy job for a pro.

Not if you are somewhere where the temps reach 90 to 100 degrees!

We went with the "el-cheepos" from Home Depot. They were a bear to install...look like crap, but do the job (for now).

I tinted the entry door window on my previous trailer with the darkest limo tint available at Walmart. Cost was minimal. Bought the smallest roll they had.

Held up great for the 10 years I owned it.

After taking another look at the attachments, I really like this idea.

Very easy, very simply and very clean looking. I really like it.
