X213 Mods and Accessories

I've decided to add my two copper coins worth of what I've been doing to our 2012 Jayco Jay Feather Ultra Lite X213.

To start, I really felt like we needed to make our storage area more efficient by adding pegboard and going vertical. I put pegboard in my shed and garage, so the materials were leftover.

The lower bunk was starting to come apart - I think due to pressure put on it by the mattress in the stowed position. We don't use the bottom bunk, but I didn't like the idea of it coming apart. Besides, I had other ideas about the what to do with this space.

I like having my camping supplies closer to where I need them or will use them, so I put my water hose, TV cable, and electrical cords on the bottom bunk, next to the left-hand bunkhouse door (on the same side as all of hookups).

That thing on the right side? Next!

The X213 has a exterior rail outside of the galley that is ostensibly there for mounting an RBQ or similar exterior mounted grill. I really don't feel comfortable with putting a grill that close to the trailer, but still wanted to put that rail to work. So I built a small table/drying rack (for wet towels and the like) to hang off the rail. Most of the parts are from leftover ClosetMaid ShelfTrack installations in my house. I can tear it down or put it back up for storage in the bunkhouse in about a minute.

We've been wanting to try our hand at boondocking, so I figured that was going to take some more modifications - like changing out the light bulbs for LEDs to decrease our house battery use.

For the DW. More countertop space with a stovetop cover.

For the whichever kid has claimed the top bunk. I'm not quite sure why Jayco doesn't supply a ladder, but there's no easy way to get up there without assistance. We found a ladder. Or rather my brother-in-law did. We think it's military surplus, and really lightweight. It had already been cut down, but I added some wood for stability, rubber feet to protect the floor, and brackets so it wouldn't fall off the bunk.

We have parking for our trailer at home, but it's under a huge oak tree. We didn't want to green trailer (and people from the South know what I'm talking about), so we got a Classic Accessories cover for use between camping trips.

I couldn't figure out a really good spot where to put the towing gear - weight distribution hitch, towing mirrors, shore power cable, and the like, so I cleared out a space on the garage wall and hung it all up on the pegboard (I do like me some vertical storage).

Of course, being a modern family, we have all sorts of devices that need to be recharged, so I replace the galley electrical outlet with one that has USB charging ports built in. There's plenty of room behind the existing outlet to use standard residential old-work boxes with the new outlet. In fact, there's so much room, I may move the outlet over to the side and make the rest of the area some open-shelf storage (future mod!).

Light near the entrance and bottom bunkhouse light (they have 48 SMDs, surface-mounted devices, the actual light emitting dots on the "bulb"):

DW found this plastic drawer set (for free!), so we placed it in the bunkhouse. Drawers go in the house for packing when we're getting ready to go camping, and everybody packs their own clothes, or hangs them up in the closet.

DW found this key and mail holder at the thrift store. We'd been looking for something to put our keys on rather than the limited counter space. We figure we'll also put the campground agreement and other paperwork in the mail holder. I mounted this on the left-hand wall in the closet (up high so it would be out of the way of any hanging clothes).

X213

I'm new to this forum, so maybe this has been discussed. Anyone know how to mount a light/fan on the ceiling of the slide out? I used to own a tent trailer so it would clip to the poles but now it's a hard slide. Feedback is much appreciated

Take a look here:

There is a similar type of light/fan combo like you had in the tent trailer, just make for smaller bars.

We got the urge one time to get a high wall trailer and fell in love with the X213... I even went as far as to draw up a change to the bunk bed area since there was only the two of us... This would of made a great office/computer/ham radio setup mod...
