X23B clear plastic inserts in bunk end windows

Has anyone tried to put clear plastic inside or outside on the bunk ends? It would be nice to be able to zip them open and be able to see outside but still be able to keep cold and heat inside the camper. I was thinking of buying clear plastic and cutting it to fit inside to cover the screens, but not sure of how to attach them. I would think the soft plastic would just slip down without attaching it in some way. I'd like to keep the plastic in there when I close the bunk ends. I was even thinking of buying very thin plexiglass and cutting it to size, since that would be somewhat rigid and not slip down. Any thoughts out there?
