21M Maiden Voyage

We just returned from our first trip with the 21M. We went to Ramblin Pines near Woodbine, MD. Very nice campground. We were in spot D7. DW and I got the camper to ourselves Friday night, and then our DS and DGKs came on Saturday and stayed overnight. All went well. Everything worked. We even got to test the CO alarm twice! The first time, Saturday morning, it was pretty cool when I got up, so I turned on the furnace. About 5 minutes later the alarm went off. I knew it was just the furnace burning off the manufacturing oils, so I turned on the bathroom fan and opened the outside door. The alarm turned off immediately. Later when DW got up, I turned the furnace on again and no alarm this time. When DW was cooking pancakes, she let a plastic utinsel get over the burner flame and as soon as it burst into flame, the alarm went off again. No harm done. But she'll be more carefull from now on.

Everyone had a great time.

Hey Topflght,

Great pics! I am a new member as well (see Jayco 23J post from last week).

Admittedly, I am a bit envious of campers from the east of us. Everthing is so green! Living in the San diego area (basically desert with "imported" water), we have access to a lot of beautiful country, but we have to drive a long way to reach it.

Seeing your great looking rig makes me want to head out again, NOW. It's a bit harder with the school in session, though.

Hopefully we will see you 'round the forum.

Mark

Thanks for the pics. Neat to see happy campers with kewl tt's!

You may have read this elsewhere on the forum, but we also have the flatpitch elec awning. It is extremely sensitive to anything more than a very slight breeze. If there is a slight breeze, half way extended still works. If wind or a gust comes, it could blow the none-motorized side clear up over the roof, we saw it happen to another poor camper.

Happy travels!

Yes, I did read that! I also experienced camper "Rock and Roll" while in Camp Driveway and had to retract the awning then.

It rained early Sunday morning, and I got up in the middle of the night to retract the awning then as well.

If there is anything to dislike about this camper, it has to be the awning.
Why would they ever make one like this?

Thanks for the warning though.

Yes, agreed! I thought the electric awning was a great option until we used it a few times. The motor seems weak, it doesn't appear very strong and there's no 'override' if you lose power or blow the motor. Shame...

We asked if Jayco would leave it off and replace it with an old-fashioned manual awning. They were only willing to give us $200 credit towards the manual awning. We kept the elec one, but per dealer recommendation, we added the SunBlocker that hangs down to provide shade.
