First Trip to Florida w/the WhiteHawk

We headed down to Florida to visit Daughter & Granddaughters. Had a great time, Weather was good most of time. Really enjoyed the 27DSRL WH.

We stayed at Blue Spring SP. Saw over 400 Manatees in the Spring

Nice, my aunt and uncle live over in Deltona. I love Florida in the winter. We usually go every February. With a newborn son this year we won't be making the 15 hour drive. I couldn't live in Florida year round... but from November through March its a beautiful place to inhabit!!!

Nice campground and a very nice unit. I have a sister that lives in Deltona and when I still had my parents they lived in Orange City. I hope you enjoy your time there.

Sigh... I'm jealous. Every February my parents rent a place down outside of Tampa. We usually take an extended RV trip and spend a couple days in Savannah on the way down, a week nearby them and a couple days in Charleston on the way home.

I have a new position at work and a 7 week old baby boy laying next to me right now. We decided against the 1000 mile drive with a newborn this year. Its 22 degrees and windy today. While I am grateful for the new position and especially a healthy baby boy... I still miss Florida in February...

Cool

Well, we are missing Florida already. Back home and under a Winter Storm Warning with Snow & Ice tonight. It was a great site and we really enjoyed the Area. As Spoon059 said, that 1000 mile drive was long and we would not have tried it with a baby (or our dogs).
Will be heading back in the Fall to stay out of the Hot weather. After that I could see us as Snow Birds & spending entire Winters down in FLA

400 Manatees.....that's amazing. I've seen 3 maybe 4 my entire life. We were on the beach outside of Englewood a few years back....one swam so close to me I could reach out and touch it (didn't). An hour later a couple came by and said they had been coming to that beach for 10yrs and had never seen even one. Don't you know within a 1/2 hr that darn thing swam back down the beach,,,,,

sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread.... I think they are the most amazing, gentle creatures

The first night we only saw a few but did not realize the Spring is approx. 1/2 mile long. Second day when we walked the full length we saw many more. Every day brought varying amount but always saw plenty. Last day there it was overcast and cool with intermittent rain . Temps dropped in the river and that evening it was like a Manatee Traffic jam. Park Rangers post a count each day that is how I can officially say there were over 400.
I'm posting a link to the Save the Manatees site. They have live and recorded videos from the Spring you can watch. Great shots and relaxing

Awesome pics, we live 30 miles from Blue Springs, what a great place.

Also, we are picking up our 2016 27DSRL on Saturday. We plan on putting it up at a local (1 mile away) KOA for a week to give us a little shakedown time...... We come from tent camping.

It was a great site and a great Park. Heading back down in January 2016. will stay in Blue Springs SP again and a couple of days in Anastasia SP outside of St Augustine before heading home.
Will look into other places to stay as we don't want any one area to become 'stale'

And we do enjoy poking fun the Locals (including Daughter & Granddaughters) that time of year by wearing Shorts, Flip Flops, & t-shirts while they are wearing Jeans and Sweatshirts because it's 'Cold'.

Enjoy your new 27DSRL

Great memories! If you ever get down to the Tampa Area camping in the winter time, you must go to the Big Bend Power Plant off of Interstate 75 just south of Tampa. They have a Manatee Museum and also a viewing area which is a walkway built out over the water. The warm waters from the power plant are a magnet for the Manatees during the cold winter months. It is amazing to see them frolicking around right there for you to see. Young and old will enjoy this and it is free for watching, except for what you spend in the museum!

Aren't temps in the teens a bit extreme for Nov temps in Pa??

Nice WHawk. We love our 2014 30dsre and have made 2 trips south to the panhandle and Gulf coast. We would never travel without our dogs though. Part of the family and no fun without them. They learn to travel very early as pups. Last year purchased a pet ramp so our 14 year old Malmute mix could make one last trip with his family. [Ernie RIP 8/15]. New pup has joined the family - Charlie Brown now 5 mos old and ready to head south with the family in late Jan.
