Do you have to take the bedding off when you pull those beds up? How well does your AC do when you have the beds out? My mom traded in her custom 5th wheel for a Jayco Hybrid and I'm wondering these things. She says it's great but I just can't believe she went from a mobile condo to this hybrid.

We've only had to use the AC while packing the hybrid in the driveway. It cooled nicely but was very loud and never shut off. We've never had AC before so I don't know if this is normal or not. As far as the bedding goes you fold the mattresses in half before you tip up the bunk ends. We use sleeping bags so we just roll them up. I'd imagine you could just fold in the bedding with the mattress as long as it is not too thick. The mattresses Jayco provides are about 6" thick which is about 2-3" thicker than other hybrids we looked at. Moving down to a hybrid from a 5th wheel would be tough. To us the hybrid is a major improvement in space from the popup, but I'm with you, down from a 5th wheel would be tough.

Got one more trip planned in mid October. Then it's time to build the ice rink in the back yard and "enjoy" winter skating with the kid's.

Did you have the button slid all the way left to "auto"? If in middle "fan" then the fan continues to run. On "auto" it will cut off once your tt hits the temp you have set on the thermostat (assuming you have the same thermostat as us).

Your own ice rink!!! Kewl! How do you do that *trying to envision*. I'm guessin' you have a swimming sized pool type set-up in the b/y that is only about 3-4 inches deep w/water that you allow to freeze in the winter?

I start building it in mid November. It's just about what you envision. 2"x12" wood makes a frame that we line with a white boat tarp. The finished rink is about 20' x 45'. Then we fill it with wather when cold weather is expected to continue and in about a week we have ice. I've played hockey all of my life so it's fun to teach the kids how to skate and enjoy the cold weather. I've attached some pics.

Wow! No Way! You've got to be the coolest (pun intended) parents in the neighborhood... maybe the city! Do other folks do this too? Good for you guys!

Actually, you may want to consider making this it's own little thread in 'campfire chat'.... "How to make an Ice Rink in your back yard!!!!" Definitely post pics and how to do it (we can't as we only hit 32 degree's a couple of days in January! Otherwise we are in the 40-50's at night so we can't do it).

Yeah, the neighborhood kids think it pretty cool. We go through quite a bit of hot chocolate. Building home ice rinks is fairly popular in the upper midwest and Canada. Our city has an outdoor rink that is up all winter as well. As we get closer to winter I'll have to do a campfire chat on ice rink building, maybe it will inspire someone.
