This is how it all started 3 years ago. Looked around for a 5th wheel I liked. This was it. Had the right amount of work to be done. Interior was spotless. Just a faded carpet. On the way home the front panel blew off. Price went down dramatically as I took it back when this happened. Well got home & decided to put a temporary/permanent patch on so we could camp the rest of the summer. Then the restoration began that fall and continues today.

Wow. Very, very nice. The work required to make your repairs was phenomenal. Excellent job, thanks for the updates and pictures.

Wires are back in & hooked up on both the AC & DC panels in the curbside back wall. The rotten slide side rear wall behind the slide is all back together & new as well. The laminated beam going across the top of the slide frame was rotten as well in the little piece of wall beside the slide out. I managed to splice a 2 x 8 onto it & keep it from twisting. The roof had to be replaced from the back toward the front about 4 feet. The rest of the roof for 17 years old 5th wheel looks pretty good.

I finally got around to the last of the rot. I took off the quick repair when I bought it as well. One disappointment albeit the coach is 17 years old & I believe this was a transition year from aluminum siding to filon. When stripping the front off to my disbelief there was no plywood underlay as in the rest of the trailer nut a heavy cardboard. For what felt like delamination was just this cardboard with the filon attached to it. I don't know why they did this. Made for a weak front end. The underneath of the overhang was also just aluminum skin & not weather proofed or water proofed in any way. spray from a rainy day of pulling could have water penetrate either the bottom of the walls or the underneath of the over hang. Oh well at least I can change that now. Out with the rot in with the improvements.

Do you plan to glue the sidewalls on all one piece and what kind of glue are you going to use?

What a great job excellent work! The wood on the front really didn't look that bad to me what made you decide to tear the front end off?
