Took all the filon off the front. All the cardboard off too. The cardboard was still wet. Its been in my shop since last May. That"s how water "stays" wet in RV walls. You can see the rot in the lower wall frame. The inner wall panels a paper scrap too. I figure I need 6 panels to replace the inner panels before I can put the walls studs back up. Still cold up here today. The shop isn"t heated but out of the wind. 0 - +1 C Brrr Oh I got my answer as to why they used cardboard on the front wall instead of the luan underlay. Apparently it was too time consuming to make the wood curve around the front top of the trailer. Apparently lots of the different RV manufacturers did it. I guess that's what led to the fibreglass front noses.

Good luck with your project,i would sell mine to the high bidder,i have no time for that kind of repair,i think it all starts with some one not taking care of there investment to begin with, most people know,or suspect that there is a leak before you see that much damage, just my 2 cents, hope i didn't step on any toes

if a owner cant take the time too do the maintenance , than spend a little now and have the maintenance done . time for camping now

I looked for one the needed TLC. Found this one. Exactly people need to know how to look after things. Just can't buy them & keep using them as they fall apart. I like doing this as in life you need a hobby. 32 years as a union electrician I have fun with this. Also challenges you too.

Well I got the front wall off the trailer today. A little frosty as it snowed again. Tested the walls I made for it of f the drawing from Jayco & they look good. I need 6 interior wall panels before & can rebuild the walls front & both sides. I have to wait until Tuesday for that. I need a warmer day to buff up the steel frame & paint it on the over hang.

You want an adhesive that will allow movement, which this does, but need a more water and heat resistant one.

Looks good, lots of work.

Got the front walls back on. Took the front side wall off. Slide side. Started to get the side wall back together. Interior paneling came out just like the factory just not the same colour or pattern. Have to take what you can get in that department.

You see the foreman watching my progress. Had to take more of this wall out as the bottom of the inside paneling sucked the water up like siphon. At least this is the last wall that needs to be replaced. A little more cutting tomorrow up top of the wall to get rid of the rot.

Not to go off topic, but are you a carpender 9-5? Ive owned a few campers with a little water damage, but dont think I would ever try and tackle a project of that size. I did replace an interior wall in a mallard a few years back, but it didn't go that well. Maybe if I had a place to work on it inside, I would be more daring. The 314 has signs of water damage in the rear outside (behind the tub inclosure) and thinking if that a project I would ever want to handle. Ive always liked the idea of flipping campers, but just havent dared to get into a project.

No, I am a union electrician for the past 34 years. I have had wooden boats since I got married 30 years ago. Wooden boats require very good accuracy. My last one was a 1964 Chriscraft Constellation. 34 foot mahogany plank hull. I have all the proper wood tools minus a thickness planner I sold a couple years ago. Jayco has been good while I have been doing this as I got the build drawings off them. I have made slight changes where I wanted a little more support. Interior wall paneling could not be matched so vinyl paint later to make it a closer match will have to do. I bought this farm a year ago& for me the shop is the best feature . I can finish this inside. It was tough doing it with a tarp covering it up every night. I enjoy doing this as its mine. Sometimes I have had to pull it apart farther than I wanted but it's the way it's built.

I'm a retired union millwright, I had 31 years in the trade. Like you, I also like working on things like that.

Got the framing done on the curb side front wall almost. Paneling in place inside, window routed out & frame back in. As I said before the wall panels don't match but painting with vinyl paints later I expect to get a closer match.

The only negative thing I will say about this trailer is the way they did the front under the overhang. They just put on a skin of aluminum underneath & in front where the cargo doors were. Dumb thing is they used putty tape around the door frames but nothing not silicone or putty nothing to seal any of the aluminum. So it was inevitable that it would rot around the front. Hence the pictures. I also have decided to put only one of the cargo doors back on.

The front is back together. Solid as a rock. Fastened to the steel as it should have been. Screwed, stapled & glued. Solid.

Just chilling today. Really the temp went down to 6C. The front is now solid on both sides.

Finally got around to replacing the rotten front cieling. The interior cieling panel had to be placed as well. The wiring is back down the front wall so I am starting to put the insulation back in the front wall. I should be able to put the plywood back on in a week & then put the fibreglass back on the front.
