Washington Coast Camping
Just got back from a few days on the Washington Coast at Cape Disappointment State Park where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. This was the first real tow with our 195RB Baja (actually with any TT ) - about 170 miles each way. The Hemi did great - got an average of 12.3mpg on the round trip (hand calculated) - half interstate half 2-lane state highway and rolling hills. Pretty stiff head-wind on the way in but calmed down a lot by the time we left. The only issue we had with the trailer was the small fire extinguisher just inside the door - came loose on the drive there and is now stowed under the sink..... We've already got our next reservations made down by Mt St Helens in about 3 weeks
Attaching a few pictures - the beach was about a 2 minute walk from our site. It was pretty windy so we didn't open the awning. No rain though Looking north you can see North Head lighthouse which faces the Pacific Ocean. The next day we drove up and took a closer look but were too early for the tours. The 4th picture is looking back at the beach by our camp site from the North Head lighthouse. The camp sites are about the middle left of the shot where the land curves to the left. The other lighthouse is Cape Disappointment which is on the Columbia River side of the cape.
