165 floor vinyl done !!!!

after months passed and hours of work, the whole subfloor is replaced ( see other posts ) and the new vinyl is down. got it in almost one piece. it's cut in one place under the bed. door side is tight, but I left it back a few inches everywhere else to watch for leaks. sadly, I do have two small leaks still in the front and rear corners. I've run out of places to caulk and repair. i'll have to live with it I guess. it's a little disheartening, as I thought I'd found all the leak spots. one remote idea I had was that maybe it's getting behind the screw covers ( new ) and dripping off a screw onto the very outside corner of the plywood. the small spots dry within hours. but, in the rear street side corner, it travels about a foot forward even when the trailer is pitched low in the rear...it's laminated and there is no delamination taking place.i cut small access panels in the corners, and I can see the water but can't see where it's coming from. I'll be 66 in a month, and I'm determined to put this thing back together, and just keep an eye on it.....hey my son's in san diego, and I hope to leave boston and move there..and THERE IS NO RAIN THERE to speak of....check out the pics

the vinyl is a fairly heavy armstrong covering. better than original, not glued down

Take it down for a leak test. Well worth the cost to have a dry RV.

the leak is between the plywood, the plastic belly wrap which is wrapped over the plywood, and the sidewall . everything is screwed in from the bottom, the sides, and caulked or putty taped. could the leak test get by this ?

I find them to be a valuable service. It is amazing what they can find if you have a good technician.

They should be a part of ones regular maintenance\service schedule IMO. Its the "pay now or pay later" scenario. But, I tend to keep my vehicles for a lot longer than most.

Use smoke with a fan and pump air into the TT to create pressure inside the TT then look for the smoke outside or pump air out of the TT and smoke the outside to see where it sucks it in.????

My guy charges $10\FT to start plus repairs. But, he is thorough. Do not tell the service guy where you think the leaks are. Let him find EVERYTHING.

He seals up the vents and the door and used a vacuum gauge to monitor changes, along with a variable speed fan. He the goes outside and sprays soap water from top to bottom. It takes time to do right so ask if you can watch.

We caught a window seal leak and there was no hint of a leak. It saved us a lot of grief.
