17 RK Roof

Can you walk on the roof of the 17RK to check the AC unit if need be?

I sit on the roof and move around on it but have not "walked" on and will avoid doing that. If you distribute your load it's fine.

We have a 17FD and we were told that the roof could hold 10,000 pounds, so walking on it should not be a problem.

There should be something in your manual that tells you if your roof is walkable.

If you do walk on it barefoot is best as even a tiny rock stuck to the bottom of your shoe can cause a hole or tear to start. If you do want to get up there hands and knees are better.

When cleaning I stand up with a car brush and a bucket and rinse with a small electric power washer. I put the washer on paint platform of my step ladder which gives me enough pressure hose.

Stay safe, 10 feet up is not much, but 10 feet down is!

While I do not disagree with removing shoes, the Hummingbirds are all fiberglass so if there were a rock the worst it would likely do is put a scratch in the gel coat.

I typically wash a majority of the roof from a step ladder on each side and then only have to sit next to the AC unit on the slide side of the roof to reach the remainder.
