2005 jay feather 25g (bunk house) wheel and tire upgrade

Hello, this is my first post to the site, I hope I can get some insight on my trailer setup. I am a first generation tt owner and have owned my 2005 jay feather 25g (bunk house) for three years. It is now time for some new tires. I have been advised when getting new tires to convert from my bias tires to radials. The trouble I am finding is that you cannot find a load range D in a 13 inch wheel (ST185/80R13). I called jayco to ask if I could convert to a 14 or 15 inch wheel and they gave the standard answer that they don't recommend anything other than OEM which is ST185/80D13. my question is if anyone knows if I can upgrade to a 14 or 15 wheel?

Also if you have any other insight that relates to this subject that I should consider I would appreciate it.

If you do some research on the height of the new tire/rim combo vs the specs on the ones you currently have you should be able to determine if you have clearance.

I would like the largest rim and highest load range tire I could get in the space available. What you got from Jayco is the standard legal dept. answer.

Even a tire dealer, unless you have a great relationship would not want the liability of giving bad advice.

There is plenty of it free on the internet!

Thanks for the response. I plan to go out to my TT later this week (offsite storage) to get the measurements on the wheel well to see what will fit.

we picked up a set of Load Star D tires in 13" bias from e-trailer.com a year ago. so far no issues/problems with them. i was also looking to jump to a 14 or 15" size initially for more options but the wheel wells are just too tight to jump up a size. looks as if you have the room for a larger wheel/tire just really depends on wheel travel and your back space clearance. good luck.

I have a Jayco 213 EXP and it came stock with the 13" wheel as well. The first time I had a tire go and I had so much trouble finding replacements in a 13" size, I just upgraded the wheel and tires to 14" based tires and I'm not going back now. The local Discount tire looked at the setup and said it should not be a problem and then just put them on so I could see it and there was still plenty of clearance. The 14" tires are a lot easier to come by too.

What's interesting is that I have a 2005 25G Bunkhouse and it came with ST1815/80R13. This was actually ordered from Jayco from the Dealership. I only know this as I just ordered tires on Amazon as one blew out on the way home from Florida.

On that note, anyone know where I can get a new fender well? I seem to have split mine in half with the tire blowing out.... nothing says good times like changing a tire in 18 degree weather and snow! :P

I have a 16xrb with 13” tires. The tire spec sticker on the camper says 205 75r 14. So legal shmegal!!! Jayco maybe cutting expenses. The problem is, 13”
Tires are rated for 1400 Lbs, and the camper when loaded can weigh 3500 Lbs. 14” tires are rated for 1750 Lbs. So I think someone has made a mistake!
