23MBH vs... 23MBH

Hey,

It appears there's a Jay Flight 23MBH and a White Hawk 23MBH?

Jay Flight 23MBH has:
1. Fiberglass sidewalls (option, same as White Hawk standard?)
2. Option for 80 gallon fresh water (advantage over White Hawk?)
3. Larger gray/black water than White Hawk
4. w package seems identical in feature to White Hawk

So, what's the advantage of getting a White Hawk over Jay Flight?

Also, why does the Jay Flight 23MBH say "Idaho Model" for 2016? what does it mean?

Finally, any Jay Flight 23MBH or White Hawk 23MBH care to share their experiences? issues? good features vs bad? advantages of 23MBH over Rockwood Mini Lite 2504s? (which is very similar)

Thanks and very much appreciate all the help and feedback! ;-)

The companies have different lines so they can honor competitive markets for their dealers yet still have multiple dealers in a given market, they break out a few different options and packages to keep, them unique.

As for the Idaho Model, those are built in Idaho at their plant in Twin Falls, as opposed to the ones built in Indiana. Again when they regionalize they will offer specific features that might not be available in their other markets.

This is common among all the manufacturers. Some other brands offer a Northwest package, versus a southern package, often one will be geared towards colder climates and boon docking, and the other will be geared for hotter climates where the camper is more prone to have full hookups.

Really, it's just marketing in action.

We have the whitehawk 23mbh and like it. Our truck tows it great. The Murphy bed is good and it helps to save on space. One thing we don't really like is the table. We would prefer the table to be on two poles instead of the odd fold up shape it is. One thing to remember on the Murphy bed is to hook it to the couch in the down position or you might be folded up with it. Also when lowering it make sure the locks are fully retracted or it could catch on the nightstand and damage it

Jay Flight is wood framed with aluminum or fiberglass sides (your choice). A little more old school with the wood studs 16" on center. White Hawk is aluminum framed fiberglass sides only. Each is built quite different. I'm not a Whitehawk fan mainly due to the floor construction, which is pretty much luan and sandwiched foam, compared to the Jay Flight with 2x3 wood joists and 5/8" plywood floor. Pretty much a matter of preference really. We look at construction more than eye candy. Everybody has their reasons. Some argue wood rots, but no matter which route you go, rot is the least of worries if something leaks. Either will last if taken care of.

If so, I'm glad to see that. I know everybody hasn't had the soft floor problems, but quite a few have.

Jay flight has "hung fiberglass" attached to wood frame studs. Hung fiberglass is not the same White Hawk Vacumn laminated walls with aluminum studs.
Vacumn lamination is far superior to hung fiberglass. The whole wall is vacumned in a bag placing over 100 tons of pressure.
The cheaper method of laminating is "pinch rolled" walls. Many manufactures pinch roll a wall for cost savings, delamination is a problem with this method.

All Jaycos have 5/8" tongue and groove exterior grade plywood floors. Everything is glued and screwed down The seams and screw heads are filled and sanded. No OSB products are used in a Jayco.

Hung, laminated, no matter what, they all can have problems. A vacuum wall can delam just as easy. Entegra uses hung walls (Jayco Owned). I never buy into the sales pitch of hung, pinch rolled, vacuum bonded, especially when one owner / manufacturer uses multiple processes, like Jayco. They all have there pros and cons. I've had all but aluminum, and never had a problem with any of them. Jayco JUST swapped to the plywood floor in the whitehawk. It was luan and foam a year ago.
