72” of **** in a 74” bed
Curious if anyone in the 6’ range has logged a lot of shuteye in the 74” queens in the hummingbirds. We stopped and checked out a closeout ‘18 17rb on a road trip last weekend, and it seemed a little tight. I’m a fuzz over 6’ and wonder if anyone’s had any problems?
We’ve been heavy googling these badboys and are contemplating picking up a rk or fd on closeout, but would hate to get a night or two into it and be sleepless and sad. Guess I could always sleep a little diagonal and make up for my wife’s bed-hogging at home? Might try to rent one or something I guess. Thanks in advance!

We own a 2018 RK and I am about 6'2". We have spent about 20 nights in our RK since we picked up in Mid June and I have found the sleeping to be pretty good, in general.
I sleep pretty good in the bed, but wouldn't mind a slightly longer bed. However, all in all, I am ok with it. I do slide a little diagonal when I want to stretch a little, and I don't seem to interfere with my wife's sleeping when I do.

At 6'1" I sleep a little on a diagonal too and don't have a problem.

I’m 6-6 and knew the OEM mattress in our SLX212 would be short. So, I bought a 4-inch thick sheet of dense foam at Michael’s that was the same width as the mattress. Cut a 4-inch strip and put the 4x4-inch strip across the head of the bed, between the wall and mattress. With a foam topper on top of that, it’s perfect. No sleeping diagonally. It’s a little tighter going around the rear of the mattress to the other side, but worth it.

A regular length 2” mattress topper with the excess hanging over the foot gives you about another 2” effective length.

I'm 6'-0" and have been sleeping in ours for 2 years with no problems (with the right mattress. If I really want to stretch out I just lay at a slight angle and it works fine.

I don't completely understand how the foam/mattress toppers help gain any length (not the murphy bed, 74" wall-to-wall), but it sounds like people my height or even more haven't had serious problems. Thanks for all the input, happy camping!

When you put an 80" long topper on a 72" long bed the part that folds over the edge adds to the length. In my case it was a 2" thick topper so it added about 2" to the length.

We just picked up a closeout 18 17FD.
I am 6ft even. While we haven't spent a night yet. I think it will be ok. If I stretch a bit I touch the wall but I don't if I am in normal side or back sleep position.
