Smile Anode rod replacement

Has anyone replaced an anode rod in an Atwood 6 gal. model# GC6AA-10E. It's a comb. gas/elect unit in a 2013 White Hawk 26 DSRB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that I have the same unit on my 2014 Whitehawk 28dsdh. They do not need an anode rod since the tank is made of aluminum.

X2

The Atwood tank being aluminum (unlike the Suburban tanks) use all plastic fittings that come in contact with it (drain plug, etc.). If a steel fitting is used with the aluminum tank it will initiate the corrosion process (electrolysis).

Smile anode rod replacement

Well thanks for the info.--- yep the tank is in fact aluminum and the drain plug is some type of plastic --- yet the owners manual did elude to replacing the anode rod every year (even showed sketches of rods in various stages of decay). I'm surprised they didn't mention the need not to replace one. Well just one less thing for me to replace. Thanks again for y'alls help.

Have to remember the manual probably covers several different versions of equipment. Some of it will pertain to your equipment and some of it probably will not. I believe all Atwood tanks are made of aluminum and do not have the anode rod.

namusmc65, thanks for your input, I kind of figured those sketches are generic after the two responses I got previously. Still think they should have covered the lack of an anode rod in aluminum tanks, were you a Jarhead?
