Attaching Accessories to the Walls in a Whitehawk?

Does anyone have experience or suggestions in attaching any kind of accessories to the outside walls in a Whitehawk? I've seen thinks like spice racks, extra haning hooks for coats and the like. If so, what kind of fasteners work best? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you contact Jayco with your year & model, you might be able to get a wall schematic that will indicate the locations of reinforcements or backers in the wall's interior. Having a backer in the wall allows your screws to have something to 'bite' into. Otherwise there is nothing but styro-foam inside the wall. If there is no backer inside the wall where you wish to mount something, you might be able to use an expandable wall anchor. But do so with great care. A wall anchor that is too long might not install because the walls are not much more than about a 1" thick. If you force it, the exterior surface of the wall may be damaged.

You might want to consider Command Strips by 3M. Different sizes for different weights. No drilling, no holes. Not sure if a stud finder will work to find any studs.

I have used 2" wide velcro for some applications. Especially if they resting on the counter behind stove.
Otherwise, a 1" wood screw with a expandable molly.
I've had trouble getting the 3M hooks to hold well against my wall covering. Seems like the wall covering is textured and won't hold a hoodie or towel.

All good suggestions. Thanks. Do you know what the interior walls are made out of? What I'm really interested in hanging is a spice rack by the stove and some coat hooks by the front door. I will call Jayco and see if they have the framing diagram.

I've been using 5/8 & 3/4" #8 & #10 screws, depending on thickness of accessory. Installed two metal spice racks from CW above stove, multiple hooks for towels, jackets, etc. No problems so far. Just completed a 27-day trip from TX to the Pacific Ocean and back. Logged 6168 miles, with quite a few on very bumpy roads. Nothing fell off. Trailer did great, only issues were owner-inflicted!

This spring we installed a few 3M Command Strip hooks on the walls, primarily for hanging coats and sweaters. We have had no problems with them coming loose or falling down through 40 nights of camping ond over 3,000km this summer.

Wall dog screws would work great.

3M makes a lot of great command products. I have a number of “baskets” installed in the trailer. I have taken the adheasive strips and attached them to my tooth brush holder to mount it to the wall. The only place I have had issues with the Comand adheasive not sticking is to the wood panelling. I found if I take a little Goof-Off and wipe the spot that I want the hook, it will then stick. I’m guessing there is a silicone coating on the paneling.

If I screw anything to the walls (done a lot of it), I remove a screw from a cabinet that is near the area, measure it, then find the approrate Kreg screw for my application. Lots of stuff held up both ways and never had any issues.

Also used #8 SCREWS. If you match up with a frame tube, you're golden. If not, might be ok if its a light picture or such. If some weight, I use some sort of a molly.

Can I tell you how much I love these forums?! So I looked up images for wall dog and Kreg screws, etc. My friends who retired do crossword puzzles for mental stimulation; I'm taking a foreign language--it's called doing it myself stuff around the house and TT. "Wall dog screw" just rolls off the tongue!
I think my question is answered. I want to add some shelves to a compartment on my Whitehawk 21FBS. They will only have clothes on them so mostly lightweight and I thought I'd use wood glue to attach the supports but also wanted to put a bit of a screw in the walls. I'm thinking if I used a screw that will go into the wall less that 1/2", it will add some support but not hit the outside skin. Opinions?

Another couple we go camping with uses some strange high strength velcro system in one of their hanging closets. They put extra blankets and towels on it and it works great! They put the system together so it's not something you can buy a kit for. Heavy duty velcro and shelve supports from Lowes. I don't need the extra space or I'd do it.

Generally, Jayco will not release drawings and schematics for a unit until the warranty has expired.

There is a company call "Rv Cozy" that has a very strong holding velcro product.

I have installed hooks in the bathroom door, nailed gun in shelves in the coat closet by putting rails in the walls for the shelves to sit on, put a coat rack that is a shelf with hooks from target, and put a hooks on the walls in the bedroom and all I do is use short #8 screws with a dab of liquid nails on the screw. I don't want it to accidentally get tugged on to hard and rip a hole in the wall. Especially the bathroom door hook I added was with short screws and liquid nails on the back plate of the double hook I got from lowes. Works like a charm.

Here is a pick of the coat rack shelf and a added picture I put in for the homey feel.
