Question Battery box Lockdown

I would like to lock the battery(box) to the frame some way. Currently it is held in place by the strap and the way the battery box is positioned on the frame. I would like to at least slow anyone who thinks they need it more than I do down and peace of mind traveling as there ARE a few bumpy spots on the roads. Have not had any problem with it but trying to be proactive. I have looked locally and on line and nothing seems to be available. Should I just go ahead and get creative???

Thanks in advance,

I ordered one from here:

http://www.b-drvbatterylock.com/

It arrived promptly, and fitted perfectly. Problem solved, for about $29.

Thanks,
I just got one ordered for me and one for a friend. I suspect some other friends may be ordering in the near future based on campfire conversations.

When I bought my HTT, the dealer secured the box to the mounting braces via a couple of sheet metal screws through the plastic box and into the framing. I made a few days ago a brace, which will lock the battery into the box, via a couple of security screws. When it stops raining (Sunday/Monday) I will get it installed and take a few pictures.

Put piece of 1/4 plywood in the bottom then screw self drilling sheet metal screws thru the plywood and the bottom of the battery box into the plate the battery sits on . You may want to be sure there a couple of drain hole in the bottom also. Larry

It looks like your 242 trailer has the propane tank to close to the front of the trailer to do what I would want to do. Maybe the propane tank could be moved closer to the front of the tongue. I would need around 14 or so inches to mount one of these side mount 48-inch wide diamond plate tool boxes. This will hold up to four each GC2 6-volt golf cart batteries.

Lots of folks have done this and like what they got.

I would mount this 48-inch wide metal lockable box in this location on your trailer tongue...

That box is very nice ! We just use 7 ft. cable from Lowes wrapped around the battery/frame with a pad lock.

Just keep in mind the thieves tools of choice is these two items. It will only take a few seconds to remove straps and PAD locks. My way of thinking is to install a locking metal box that is mounted to your frame using rounded head stove bolts on the bottom. You of course cannot install any secure method to keep them from stealing your batteries but you can slow them down and perhaps that will be just enough for them to go steal your neighbors battery.

Again the best defense I have learned over the years is to slow them down or install things out-of-sight out-of-mind...

Now how long do you really think this prime choice item would last at an unattended camp site...

just my thoughts...

You are absolutely correct Roy just trying to slow them down maybe they'll decide to go the TT next to us that has no lock at all ? How much does a box like that cost ?

There is not enough room for the storage box to fit and 2 tanks are only about 3 inches from the lift. It would be convenient for keeping the hitch stuff close and out of sight. I did get the battery lock from B-D installed. Over the weekend I mentioned it to 2 other campers and both looked and asked for the website so they could order one . If anyone is serious about taking it for a walk the lockdown will only slow them down but that is the idea.
