Battery Disconnect

I just bought a Jayco White Hawk 24MBH. It has a battery disconnect in the front storage with the red "Key". I had it parked in storage and pulled the red key but the stereo was still had power, lights still work. It did not seem to disconnect the battery. Is there a special trick I'm not doing?

Thanks.

Did the key look like this one on amazon? If so you have to turn the key to make it off or on, in my case the key broke off after a couple of uses and I replaced it with a better model.

The switch wasn't wired between the battery terminal and your RV.

Today. I discovered my battery disconnect had failed in the. ON position. Meaning even when turned off the battery is still connected. This is the second time that this has happened since I bought my trailer. I disassembled the battery disconnect and found it full of water and dirt. My problem may not be the same as yours but wanted to share

You may need a set up like this. The switch is from Blue Sea Systems and they are top shelf quality.

To put it in the Off Position you need to turn and then it pops the red key pops out. To place it back in you need to push in the key and turn it to put it back in On position, then the key stays in.
