Battery Tray Whitehawk 28DSBH

Hello All,

Just days away from picking up our new Whitehawk 28DSBH. I did have a quick question.... How much space is there on the front battery tray between the a-frame? Through connections at work I can supply my own battery much cheaper than they dealer can supply one, I just don't want to order something that won't fit. I'm thinking (1) G27 or G31. I assume they both would fit but would just like to be sure.

I did have (2) 6V golf cart batteries on my previous unit and never found I really needed that much reserve. We do alot of powered site camping as well have a generator.

Thanks in advance

I can't imagine not being able to fit a single 27 or 31. Every A Frame battery I've seen can accommodate dual Grp 24, would think the Whitehawk is any different.

I just measured our trailer, it has 24 1/2" of useable space between the frame on the front of the trailer, and of course more towards the back. The existing battery box is just at 12", so it appears there would be room for a second battery & box if you wanted. The top of the box on our TT is marked GRP 24.

Our WhiteHawk 27DSRL came with one Group 27 battery and box from the dealer. A second Group 27 will not fit. We started doing a little dry camping so I added a second Group 27 by bolting a piece of 2" x 6" board to the battery tray then reorienting the boxes "north/south". They overhang the board slightly but are bolted down to the board. So far, so good and everything stays put.

We do not have the 28DSBH but do have the 31DSLB. I have 2 6V Trojan T105RE's that fit snug as a bug....can not imagine our front frames differ that much.

I would check with the dealer before you buy one. They may provide one for you. I brought a battery when I went to pick mine up and found they had already put one on. I checked the paperwork and it was not listed separately.

I have 2 standard size ds6v side by side on our 28DSBH and they fit no problem to the battery tray that came with the unit. I also agree with TakeItEasy.... some dealers through a battery in with the purchase of a trailer.

Cheers
