Built a medicine cabinet for 174bh

Took exsisting mirror off wall and placed it on cabinet I built to house pharmaceutical supplies and toilet paper rolls in our 174bh. Had to extend mounting boards out the back of cabinet on one side to secure cabinet to wall studs.

Nice work! A cabinet is so necessary in the bath, every unit should be equipped with one. And a towel bar, also. Thanks for showing what can be done!

Nice job! I am SO doing this. You made the cabinet? Will a regular house stud finder work to locate them or will the metal exterior wall mess up the result?

Made a medicine cabinet

Just tap and push on the wall, you will feel where the studs are. My studs were approximately 19" apart on the back wall. Used four 2-1/2" long wood screws to fasten to the wall.

Great idea! I want to do this too. Thank you for the inspiration.

How did you get the mirror off the wall without destroying it?

I used an approximately 2" wide putty scrapper and got it between the wall and the wood trim to remove the wood trim around the mirror first. After the trim was removed, I then used the same scrapper and did the same thing with the mirror. The mirror is installed on the wall with double sided tape. Just start working the scrapper in the mirror from all sides to break the bond of the mirror to the tape; just lift the mirror enough to keep it off the tape while you break the bond from all sides and in the middle area. You might have to place a thin wedge behind the mirror at points to keep it off the tape until you get remaining contact points loose.
