Camping Checklist

Anybody have a link to a good camping checklist that I can adapt to my needs. I usually wait till the departure day to start packing (not too smart) and forget something I need. Although, this time I have already packed clothes loaded the pantry with canned food, resupplied the paper towels, napkins so I don't get caught off guard again. Thanks.

Did a search and found this site which has a variety of checklists. Need to look thru it myself.

The Bride is a list maker (I like to joke w/ her that she can't go to the bathroom without a list) and we wrote our own. We started rather modestly and the list quickly grew into an inside/outside checklist and then into Arrive/Depart - Storage/Campground lists. When we get too many hand written additions I print a new copy.
Last trip I forgot my shampoo.

My DW is the same way! We have 3 lists; 1 for packing, 1 for departure from home, and 1 for departure from CG. All are laminated and on different colored paper. She will not mark off an item unless she lays hands (or eyes) on the item in question. She's really my backup with her lists. Since I take care of most of the items outside, like towing hardware, sewer/water, shore power, etc, I usually go by the list in my head (same steps in the same order every time), and she goes behind me with her list and we verify everything together before we move.

Everything stays in our hybrid. Anything that [U]does[U] come in goes into a bag to go right back out. When we are getting ready to go we pack our clothes, I pack the food and wine, he packs the beer. It works real well for us this way.

We have a multi-part list. It's on one sheet, in sections, so that it's not a pain to use. Part of it has the things that should always be in the trailer that we double check in the spring. Part of it is a list of consumables that have to be replaced from time to time, things like batteries or fire starters. Then there is the list of things we bring for each trip, things like cameras, tablets, chargers for electronics, etc. We even have a list for the common food items that we forget and then have to pay more for them somewhere else (ketchup and mustard come to mind).

We keep the camper stocked up. We have to make lists of the things we take out of the camper when we are at home. For example I went out and got the pop corn the other night.......so I have to put that back.

I will admit that I am pretty anal when it comes to these things and I do have a checklist in the back of a spiral notebook, but that downloadable PDF checklist is 23 pages long ! With that long of a checklist like that I would never want to leave.

I go generic; Beer, food, clothes, camera, hiking equipment and more beer.

There are some great ideas here! One thing DW does is to make a menu for the entire trip, each meal in detail including every thing it takes to make it, serve it, and eat it. Of course there are duplicates but this makes sure you have all the seasoning, utensils and condiments. This may sound tedious but she saves them to use over and over and we now have enough menus for a good variety. LW

We do this too. In fact one of the first things we do after we finalize a reservation and commit to the trip is make a detailed meal plan. This feeds the grocery list and the "don't forget to bring from home" list. Then we'll do the grocery shopping the day before we leave since the trailer has been at home for a few days by that point, the fridge is nice and cold.

A bit late to the party but here is the one that I created for us.

It is in MS Word format so you can edit it.

We started with a giant list and over time it's gotten much smaller. Mostly we have bought duplicate things for the camper that stay in there through the season, like utensils, towels, shampoo/toothpaste/etc, but I still look to make sure they are there so that nothing is forgotten and check it off of the list. There are the tool-type things that stay in the garage, like a jack or the portable charcoal grill that have been added to the list so we don't forget those. But for the most part, we've streamlined over time and stopped taking as much stuff as we used to. Before departure, we pack food and clothes/toiletries that aren't already in the camper. On my list, I've highlighted all of the items that stay in the camper 24/7 so I know at a glance what should be in there.

I rarely even plan meals. We go camping to relax, not to do the same thing we have to do at home, then need to wash dishes, etc. We stick to sandwiches or simple things like burgers or hot dogs over the fire. We do prepare breakfast, but that's about as elaborate as we get. And even then, lately we have started going to a tasty new café that has opened in our favorite campground to have breakfast. So easy!
