I don't know how but I had my city water hooked up & the next morning the fresh water tank was full & spilling out of the drain. It was a glitch with the valve. So if it can do it by itself than there is definitely a way it can be done.

On my Jayco I can fill the tank with city water, country water which is from a container using the pump to transfer to the fresh water tank, winterizing mode and sanitizing mode both of which use the pump as well!

You have to turn the screen washer inside out.... so it points out.... it has a back flow prevention in the connection. Then it will suck the water into your tank.

water pump

On my 321rlts jayco 5th wheel, you can fill the fresh water tank , you have to turn a few valve to line it up to country fill.

The pump is leaking internally.

For those who want to do this the "easy way" there is a simple trick that works on the smaller Jayco trailers without the advanced water management. We use it when refilling the fresh tank from a large portable jug and it is easier than trying to pour down a siphon.

Setup your valves like you are going to antifreeze fill the system, with the anti-freeze hose in the your jug of fresh water. Turn on the pump, and it will be drawing the water into the pressure side of the water system. Now go outside and unscrew your shower head from the outdoor shower and stick the shower hose down the fresh tank fill inlet. Now turn on the tap for the shower and the pump will suck the water from your jug and deposit it back into the FW tank.

Of course you need an outdoor shower sufficiently close to your FW fill port, but most are nearby. We converted our shower to one of the quick connect fittings that has a much longer hose and accepts a regular drinking water hose as well so there is no real limit to how far we can pump outside of hose length.

bank63, I like the way you think! Holding up a big jug to pour into a funnel is a lot of drauma. I will be buying a section of hose to pass from the jug on the ground to the antifreeze valve. Genious!

I'd like to lay claim to the genius thinking, but like most good RV ideas, I read it here first on JOF! I've got a million little tips and tricks that I have learned here over the years.

I have used my winterized/antifreeze hose to suck water from an auxiliary bucket of water to my jayco greyhawk.

Sure, this is the typical issue with the check valve inside the pump. Probably happens a lot more to people who never use the pump so the valve (and every other part) doesn't get "exercised".

Not sure why he said to use hot water; the pump is before the HWT so the temperature won't make a difference. Just wasting electricity/propane heating all that water.

This doesn't solve the mystery that the OP posted where he actually wants to fill his FW tank from the city fill; unless you want to count on the check valve getting stuck.
