Compact Disc Player panel will not shut

The Jensen Compact Disc Player, AWM 910, panel that you pull out to insert a disc will not shut. The "grasp" behind the panel is not working properly, or is broke.

It seems to be an easy fix if you can get the tiny plastic grasp part and get behind the Disc Player to insert a new grasp. At this time I have the panel velco'd shut.

Anyone have this happen and/or have pulled unit from wall to repair?

Yep...seen it before but not on that specific model. Because they are so cheap, I could never find parts. That AWM910 can be found on eBay used for like $75 and my guess is that is the route you might have to take.....It is a shame, but I dont think they build them for repair anymore!

Thanks Administrator:

What an exercise getting it out. I was ready for the square screw heads, but not for how deeply they were counter-sunk into the radio. I had to use a rat file to open a passage to the screw heads. Finally got her out. Then took it to RadioShack to replace..... no luck.

So, you sure hit it on the head with eBay. I hope to replace it with a better quality product. We'll see. Also going to try Camping World and maybe BestBy after some searching on the internet.

I have that same radio in my Jayco...I took it out when I first got it to add an AUX audio cable...I dont remember it being a chore.....I think they were phillips....wonder if they recently changed them??

As far as a better unit...I think they have one that also has DVD player built in. Honestly I dont use mine much other than to pass the television sound on the rare occasion we have it on. The radio sound quality is just not there. I purchased my wife a neat little bluetooth battery operated speaker for her iPhone last year and she just loves it...she can carry it outside the camper and have her tunes going anywhere....

I found a guy with the exact same problem on a electronic question site. His Jensen Compact Disc Player AWM910 "little black finger grip lock" broke 2 years ago.

The answer to his and my dilemna is to look for the part at junk stores such as Good Will. The parts of most of these China electronic Radio/CD are inter-changeable so may be found in other discarded radio's/cd's.

muelldawg, I have the same problem with mine, but I'm too cheap to replace it...Your velcro idea is what I'm going to use to keep it shut! Thanks!

This is usually my logic, but it seems that velcro is probably better in this case. . . reusable and all. :hihi:

Visited 2 Good Will stores this morning and no luck finding old electronic gear with the "right" part. Also wrote to Jensen customer service and they do not carry the part. They advised that entire Radio/CD must be replaced. My 2 year warranty expired 3 months ago.

BlueHaul: Velcro the panel shut is the solution.
